Thoughts on my new WWII Colt Reproduction

Well I got one of these used with less than a box of shells through it and here's what I think.

Finish is done well, no sharp edges and park done well. However I would rather have a blued colt.

Accuracy is very good even with the factory sites. No problem with combat accuracy using ball ammo.

I found I really don't like the grip safety and I prefer a flat mainspring housing. Those two things make my shooting experience more enjoyable.

All in all this gun is worth the 550 I gave for it but Not worth the 800 or so I see them going for online.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this pistol?

$550 was a screaming deal. Even $800 is less than what many dealers were charging. A local dealer here has a used one for $999 (ouch).

They were a good idea IMO, but had they applied just a little more attention to detail they'd be closer to being worth the asking price. The trigger should've had a checkered face, they didn't start adding a "United States Property" stamp until the run was mostly finished, and QC did vary on the several I examined.

BTW the new WW1 replica is a whole different story. Apparently they listened to some of the complaints regarding the WW2 reproductions.

dsk, yeah I spent money I didn't have when that deal came along. All in all its a good gun. I guess I have been spoiled shooting 45's with the extended grip safetys. They sure make a difference in comfort.
