Thoughts on my XD 45 after about 6 months of ownership.

Luckily, i haven't been in a bad enough situation to have to use it as opposed to a longarm, but I have some thoughts about the pistol.

First off, it's accuracy and reliability are about what i expected as a prior XD40 owner. It's as accurate as I am, and hasn't had a single malfunction.

I went out of my way to cake it in the fine powdery sand that's over here, and it still fired.

It's a bit uncomfortable to carry, but i suspect that's due to my choice in drop-leg rigs. However, due to the fact that it doesn't resemble a M9, i don't have much of a choice, I need the holster with the flap.

Great gun, and I'm totally happy with it... hope i can get 'er home

Just so I understand you correctly, does the military require that you carry the standard issue M9 over there, leading to the covered carry? I guess I always assumed that, while they issue the M9, the military would probably be OK with you carrying whatever you wanted if you footed the bill.

Good, luck, stay safe, and belated congrats on the purchase. An associate of mine carries the XD 45 Tactical and loves the hell out of it. More reliable and carries more rounds than a 1911, and its less bulky than the Glock 21. Let us know if you develop any problems with it, but so far my friend has abused the hell out of his and its fine. I've shot it a lot and its as accurate as I am, which isn't too bad. It may or may not be my first choice (completely personal preferance on what I'm already used to), but I'd trust one in combat without a question. Hands down.

Hornskeith... only the privilaged elite with stars on their shoulders are authorized to carry personal weapons.

The rest of us, have trouble getting ahold of M9s because all the rear area pukes get them first, so they won't have to carry their M4 to the chow hall... They actually PULLED M9s that had been issued to my guys. And redistributed em to the FOBBITs

So those of us who actually ride around in HMMWVs and might need a pistol, don't have any available.

Therefore, i made my own arrangements. ***Arts Grammaw*** em. What are they gonna do? send me to iraq?

I know many a guy over in Iraq that carried their own personal weapons on them. None of them had any trouble at all. All of them are back right now.
