Thoughts on Para's 1911 line

The Elite series are very nice and actually have a lot of EGW parts in them. I'm not crazy about the Expert line.

Para-USA.....

Para-Ord, the gun company from Canada relocated to NC a few years ago then converted to Para-USA.
The company isn't well known & in recent years has made efforts to get into the niche 1911 pistol market. The new ads say the 1911s are hand-fit which is a + & the firm R&Ded a new extractor in the early 2000s.

The Para prices seem a bit steep compared to SIGs, Auto-Ord, S&W, etc.

I have a newer para expert, and I've had 3 Canadian P14s. Never had any issues or anything bad to say about any of them.

I have a 1911 from their older Expert line and it is a very nice (and accurate) shooter. I would love to see how their Black Ops Recon fits in my hand before throwing over the money though.

I had a P14 about 18 years ago, the alloy one, and it was a terrific gun, I think it weighed around 25 ozs. I never should have sold it, but regrettably did. Para started out making frames for other manufacturers, they had one of if not the first double stack magazine framed models. But their quality has varied over the years, I also had a P10, but that was like a rock, although it also shot well. I am tempted because I am in the market for a 45 and have been for some time, and Remington and Para have huge sales going on now. I can't find the bobbed executive carry anyware. There is the normal 8 round one but I prefer the bob for carry.

Based on my experience with one of their pistols and customer service, I'd be hard pressed to buy another. In fact, I won't. Save you money and buy from a company that isn't a roll of the dice with quality.

Opinions....

I respect the opinion(s) of post #8 but the new ads for Para-USA act like the shop guys will come directly to your house & fix your Para USA 1911 right there. :D

To my knowledge, the company offers a lifetime service plan to customers.
If they do "hand-fit" these Para USA pistols, then back them, you should be okay but owners who shoot/use Paras have valid input.

I had the latest Expert and I loved it. It was accurate, well put together, and a joy to shoot. I did need Customer Support because I wanted the sights upgraded (later learned that it would have been faster to order the sights and have them installed locally). They were very pleasant and helpful, though not efficient. However, once I complained I got an immediate response and add an apology, my upgrade was free - and I didn't ask for it. I consider that excellent service.

I just purchased the Expert from CDNN. First 1911 for me, i'll have to say I like it. Looks put together well.

I put 60 rounds through it today. The went where i aimed, out to about 15 yards. It worked perfectly.

I wanted the low tier of their offerings, for one my outlay after rebate is $435.00, and if this one runs good i expect if I choose to get a higher end model it would be good as well.

I was happy to find this over the out of the country makers.
