I have a trade offer for a Remington 1911, R1 Commander Enhanced. The pictures look good, and I would like to get a Commander, but I am somewhat hesistant because of Remington's bankruptcy, and thus absent warranty service if needed, and general complaints about quality control and support.

Anyone have any experience with the enhanced models? And does anyone know what they were selling for last spring?

I understand the hesitancy, but at least any gunsmith should be well acquainted with a 1911 and parts and replacements are readily available.

I've owned two of the Remington 1911s, a basic R1 and an R1 Enhanced double stack.

Both were great guns, the basic R1 was unusually accurate and a really easy shooter, my double stack I still have and has never given me problem one.

I've not been a fan of Remington for a number of years, but have been real impressed with their 1911s they offered.

Yeah I am confident I could take it in to any gunsmith. It's just nice to have warranty service.

I will take my time inspecting it, for sure.
