I have an original marvel unit 1 top end. The barrel extends past the slide with a hole drilled (I assume for mounting their compensator). Does anyone know if this can be threaded for a suppressor? How much length would the barrel need past the slide in order to mount a standard suppressor, or an adapter to then mount a suppressor? I'm not sure if the tapped hole in the barrel would preclude the mounting or not. Sorry for the long-winded question - would just rather not sink $600 for a threaded version if I can get my current one machined. Thanks for the help.

All I can tell you is this: I have the threaded model, and that hole is still drilled for the compensator. The threads just go over the hole and it doesn't seem to cause any issue.

Can you tell how far back the threads extend from the muzzle end? That would be a quick way to figure out whether or not I can thread the standard model. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the help.

Threads go for ~.28", and there is a small unthreaded area before it shoulders back up to the original barrel diameter, ~.12", for a total of about .4" I'll try and get a picture up later.

FWIW, I sold my original one and picked up a used one with a threaded barrel; the threaded one was $30 more but it came with an extra mag, so sort of a wash. You may see if you have any luck finding a used one, it could be cheaper depending on what your smith or a machine shop charges to do threading.

Thanks for the measurement - will have to check tonight when I get home. Haven't had any luck finding a used threaded one locally - am keeping my eye out. At this point thinking about a buckmark with a tacsol barrel as a host.
