I picked up a Detonics that looks like frankenstein. GI Hammer. Baer oversize thumb safty. ETC ETC. When the safety is engaged and the trigger is pulled the safety disengages and the hammer drops. Any suggestions?

Safety Drop

Hi Gary.

You'd be surprised at how often I see that. The answer is to refit the safety
as per the thread "Thumb Safety Repair" or get another safety. If yours is machined steel, you shouldn't have a problem. If it's cast, you might.

The WW2 GI Colt that I rebuilt up a few months back had that very same problem. Three or four light strikes fixed it. Give it a try and see if it does the trick. Some are so badly fitted that the only recourse is another safety, though.
