This is a #101 - #201 series compressed to 3 days. It will have more emphasis on field shooting than a normal #101 class.

#101 - Practical Field Rifle 1
This course focuses on long-range and precision shooting fundamentals including ballistics, data management, compensating for distance and wind using knobs and reticle methods, and shooting technique. It touches on UKD and non-standard field shooting.

#201 - Practical Field Rifle 2
Building on the prior class, we re-emphasize shooting fundamentals and then focus on UKD shooting to 1000 yards from standard and improvised shooting positions. Target location, ranging, and engagement are put under time constraints.

You need a scope that has some workable method to specify drop and wind compensation. The ideal scope would have external knobs (tactical/target style) and a mil-style reticle.
 
This class went extremely well, and our shooters saw great improvements over the course of the weekend. The majority of the students shot at least 40 in the match on Sunday. Although this isn't an ELR course, we had a lot of students hit targets at 1100+ yards, with the furthest at 1680. The emphasis of PFR2 is hitting long-range targets from field positions, including a lot of non-prone shooting. So we ran the course in the back country:
