Wish I was in the area for this. :)

Zak, how do suppressors affect recoil?

John

For cartridges .300 WM and less, they reduce perceived recoil similar to a good brake; however, the physical effect is to reduce the peak acceleration but spread it out over time. A suppressed .260 Remington feels more like a .22. For cartridges .338LM and larger, there is a little more perceived recoil than the best brakes, but much less recoil than no brake-- it's more like a push than a hit. I can spot my own hits with a suppressed .338LM no problem. For these large cartridges, the psychological benefit of not being hit with the extreme blast overpressure is very helpful.

I believe I'll be driving down from MT for this, Zak. I've very much kicked myself for not trying out your silencers already. :)

Heck, it's a good excuse to come see you, too.

Can't make it up there, but thanks for doing it.

If anyone in the area has ever thought about getting a suppressor, or even if you haven't and just want to try one for a day, please go. But be warned, once you try one, you'll probably want one. Or 4 :D

Zak, I'll be in the market in the next year or so . . . do you use a .30 can on a .260 or does anyone make one that is caliber specific for .260?

Let me put it this way-- we all compete with 6.5's and 7's, and have the capability to make a 6.5mm (or 7) bore suppressor, but we use a regular .30 bore 30P-1 anyway. Suppression is great and it's more versatile. We've made several custom 6.5 and 7mm bore versions for customers, and we can make more if someone really wants one.. but I recommend going with the .30 caliber bore for versatility.
