Hello all.

I was shooting my Beretta 92fs today and it jam on me, first time it ever happen. I clear it took it home and notice the Tigger bar was sticking out. I took the grips off and found that the trigger spring was loss. I took it the a local gun shop, and explain my problem. The man took it to the back returned a few mintues later and show me that it was working now and said the tigger spring slip off. I have had this weapon for about 4 years and carried a compact for quite a few years and had never had this happen before. Any of you guys ever had this happen?

Yup, many times. Very common problem for the 92 series. What did you get charged for the repair?

I have heard the Tiggers like to bounce....

Tigger: [singing] The wonderful thing about tiggers / Is tiggers are wonderful things / Their tops are made out of rubber / Their bottoms are made out of springs / They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy fun, fun, fun, fun, fun / But the most wonderful thing about tiggers is I'm the only one / IIIII'm the only one!

Sorry...could not resist

Actually, the vibrations of a handgun are horrendous for a machine with multiple parts to survive. Not much mass to absorb it.

Google "Beretta 92 trigger spring broke", it's more common than I would have thought.

Wolff makes a replacement spring for it if anyone is interested.
That's a nice spring from Wolf. Much better than the original. That what I replace with for the 92 series.

Not really, Beretta redesigned the trigger spring back in 2002-3, any propensity for this type of malfunction should be ancient history with modern production specimens, if you're 92FS has a polymer trigger, it has the updated trigger spring....Also, Wolf markets a clever replacement spring that works on all the older variants(not the newer)which also completely eliminates the issue. My bet is that the op has an older production variant 92.....

Beretta has a polymer coated trigger only. Put a magnet to it to see the real deal. It was coated to reduce trigger bounce.

thanks for the replieds the weapon I was using was made in 1999. I guess I will look at wolff's for that replacement spring. The guy didn't charge me anything to fix it he said it took too little time to justified the paper work. Nice guy will began buying things I need from him now.

I had a new Beretta-made, Browning .380 BDA back in the 1980s that developed a broken trigger spring while stored in its case. The whole design seemed pretty fragile to me. I've not been a Beretta fan since.

I had it happen to me twice with 92FS and I got rid of it and never look at them again. It's not something that should happen with a defense weapon.
