until last night, all my loading had been with RP and FC fired brass. loaded up some brand new .22-250 winchester brass last night and the primers were much harder to seat. not impossible, but i had to use a two-handed grip on my RCBS hand priming tool, whereas i usually seat my primers easily with one hand on the tool. i'm using WLR primers. i uniformed the primer pockets on the new brass as well.

is this normal?

The only virgin brass that I've had the pleasure of priming is Lapua 308. Seemed like it was a little tight but I was using WLR primers also.

Maybe your primers are bigger than mine? Just be gentle and next time it won't be so tight!

I just ran a bunch of new Win .357 brass. Setup and loaded up the same as many times fired brass. I noticed no tight primer pockets with CCI mag primers.
