Hello folks! I have a Tikka L55 that was brought in as an Ithaca in the late 1960’s. It is chambered for the Remington.244 (6mm) cartridge. This is an excellent rifle with beautiful wood and deep blue steel. I am curious as to what the rifling twist would be. Any ideas? Thanks much!!!

Unless it has been changed, the 244 was a one in 12 I believe. And then the 243 came after that, and was a 1in 10, then, after that came the 6 mm that was one and nine… That’s if my memory is serving me correctly. That was definitely before my time :) I believe all three cartridges came out within a relatively short period of time.

If you have a cleaning rod with a rotating handle and a bore brush, you can check it pretty quick (but you may know that already)

You should post a picture though.
