First time poster and would like to get some feedback re the reputation, history and performance of the Tikka T3. Got it about a month ago and have ordered a 3.5-10 X 44 Zeiss Conquest to mount on her. Anyway, couldn't wait for the scope and went out this weekend to play around and see what all the fuss was with the 300wsm. In my less than knowledgable opinion, the gun operated flawlessly and the felt recoil became apparent after 6 or so rounds. The action is very smooth and quiet and my overall opinion was that the gun was a quality made, extremely light and easily manipulable weapon. Any other comment from others? How do you like it? Should I adjust trigger pull or just leave at factory 3lbs.

Great forum and great people. Thanks again

The Tikka T3 is currently one of the finest rifles available---at any cost-----that Zeiss will make for a good combo.

I have Zeiss's on 2 of my T3's---the other has a Burris on it.

The trigger pull thing is up to you and how well you are shooting.

O-BG,

More than 1 T3 - I have some catching up to do:) As this is my first substantial rifle (was given a .22 mag as a boy), I may have over done it with the 300wsm (the guy behind the counter told me that with this rifle I had nothing to fear on the North American continent:eek: ). Anyway, I brought it home right then and there and have been very happy with it. Just might want to add a smaller caliber to my small but growing collection of guns.

My T3's are a .223----a .243----and a .270.

I've been considering a T3 in .300WSM--------but was thinking the .300 Win mag might be the way to go---since the actions are all the same size.

My .223 and .243 feed and function flawlessly for smaller than action length calibers------as does the .270(action length)---decisions decisions

Just got one in 270 WSM

Hey guys,
I just got a T3 stainless in .270 WSM. I'm a died in hte wool Winchester M70 fan, but this TIKKA is shaping up to change my opion o f other rifles! I'll reload for it, but I bought 1 box of WW 150 gr Power Points to get started with, and my first 3 shot group @ 100yrds was .55"{!}.

Needless to say, this rifle has a permanent home......I'll follow up with more range reports:cool:

Reading these posts, I may just go out and get another this week:D Truly is a sweet rifle. Any thoughts on Tikka keeping a long action, but shortening the magazine to accomadate the short mag rounds? DDo the Sakos do this, also?

Wow, that was quick. I know that one advantage was a reduction in weight with the shorter action, but the T3 is very light. And if it works perfectly, why mess with a good thing. Any other advantages of the shorter actions? Also, fairly new so excuse my ignorance - what is the difference between centerfire and rimfire? Is there another category I'm missing?

Here's a pic

Here is a pic of my T3 with the Nikon Monarch Gold 2.5-10x50. Great scope, super rifle, AWESOME cartridge.....The group above the scope on the target measured .55" center to center. It was cheap factory WW 150 power points, and the clocked 3111 fps:cool:

My first handloads were 130 Nosler Partitions over healthy charges of H4350....slowly working up to a max charge of 60.5 grs only yielded 3050 fps[should be able to get 3200-3300 or so], so I'm waiting on some new Accurate Arms MAGPRO powder to get here this week.
