Anyone have any experience with this rifle? Specifically, I'm most likely looking for one in 7mm-08 that will be my primary deer rifle, but any thoughts on the rifle itself would be appreciated. Looks like it might be a nice all weather alternative that won't feel flimsy or too light like I have read about the T3 Lite models.

Hmm...appearently from what I have been reading, this model has been discontinued. Any truth to this?

My opinion. If you want a heavy rifle, buy a heavy rifle. The Tikka's are designed to be a lightweight and putting a heavy stock on one makes no sense. Putting a nice piece of walnut on one makes no sense either. They are working rifles and no amount of famcy wood is going to make them look good.

The Tikka factory synthetic is one of the best and would be the only thing I'd consider on a Tikka.

Wish you could find the T3 in 6.5x55 in the US anymore. Seems they stopped importing it. The CZ 550 seems to be the only mass produced rifle available in 6.5x55 in the US anymore. I have heard people complain on those that there is too much free-bore.

I would say they will be back around again sometime, but who knows when. They seem to come in waves. I looked for my Tikka for months, then they were everywhere for awhile.

I also have a CZ in 6.5x55.:D I like it too. The big difference between it and the Tikka to me is the weight. It is a rifle that is built like a tank.

Then there is the Howa 6.5x55. (Was on a 6.5 kick awhile back:rolleyes:). Jury is still out on it. Heavier than my CZ, and not as smooth as either the Tikka or CZ. My son is going to use it this year deer hunting. After that, I will decide to keep it or not. I think that the Howa's are still being imported into the US. There is usually a few of them on GB.

I have a .243 in the stainless laminated stock. Weight wise it is a great packing rifle, it is not heavy at all. However for me that is its downfall as I use it out to 700 yards and I really would like to add a bit more weight, however I want the barrel to be heavier and nothing added to the stock. Eventually I will break down and rebarrel this rifle with a slightly heavier contoured barrel and get what I want.

The gun as is is amazing, great feel, great balance. For 99.99% of the hunters out there it is the ideal weight, I am just that oddball that is getting every yard out of it that I can. If they still made the rifle in this configuration I would jump on another.

They are imported in waves two or three times a year by beretta. Certain models occasionally sell out. wait a couple of months and try again. Try a few dealers as their suppliers may be different.
