A few days ago I asked about the muzzle break on this rifle. Well I finally got a chance to shoot it yesterday and needless to say I was pretty impressed. The yard is flooded from some recent rain so I resorted to shooting with the bipod rested on our sawmill. Not very stable but better than offhand.

The first two shots were just off paper 3 high 6 left. You can see where it nicked the paper just above the brass.

I move down 3 and over 6 and fired three more. Those the the three at the center.

I then fired 4 more at the lower left target. I felt like I might have pulled two of them. But at about 85-90 yards from an unstable position it got me excited about the rifle. I can't wait to get down on the ground and shoot off the bipod.

All rounds fired were some 155 gr Nosler Custom Competition loaded with Varget (originally loaded for my Savage PC). I'm really liking this Tikka and can't wait to do some load development with it.

Nice. I got a Tikka T3 for Christmas. I love it, shoots around 1/2 MOA factory ammo. I too am a new fan.

Nice! I don't have a T3 Tactical, but I have it's cheaper cousin the CTR, and it is pretty easily the most accurate and consistent rifle I've ever owned. Mine likes 168gr Nosler HPBT over IMR4064. I have some Varget I'd like to experiment with some day, but I started playing around with 4046 when I realized that pretty much every Cooper test target I saw for 30-06, .308 and 7mm-08 used 4064, and I haven't gone back. Congrats on your new buy!

I've had my T3 6.5x55 for six years and can honestly say it's the most accurate rifle I've owned. As a matter of fact I bought two.

Nice, what did you think of the muzzle brake? Did the recoil feel less? Was it overly loud for you?

As for me I never minded brake, I have a few.

This is my first brake. Honestly I don't know if it's louder or not, I couldn't tell with just flames in. I'm sure it is, but not comparing it to anything I can't tell.

I did feel like it took a bit out of the recoil. It doesn't have quite as much recoil as my other 308s or even my .260. I would put it on the .243 level.

Interesting, my CTR is actually the first rifle I've put a brake on, and I mainly did it so I can quick attach my Saker. My perception of the brake is that it does make the rifle a good bit louder, but it really knocks down the recoil. The CTR is just a .308, but something about the stock shape and recoil pad hardness made it kind of uncomfortable for me to shoot more than 35 or so rounds from the bench. It feels like a .223 now and accuracy has not changed.

I did an impulse buy one day when a gun shop was going out of business... I got a spectacular deal on a very plain-Jane .30-'06 Tikka T3 "Forest" model. Very plain walnut stock. Wow, was I surprised when I shot it! Love it! I don't even mind the plastic parts! It's a workhorse of a rifle and it will do its intended job in wonderful fashion. Mine is definitely a keeper. It also has a better trigger than some of my very expensive varmint rifles that advertise premium, adjustable triggers!

As for the recoil, I bought a LimbSaver recoil pad that was a direct replacement for the factory pad. Amazing difference and now I don't sport an ugly green bruise after a range trip. It's all good.

Enjoy the new addition!

A thick barrel Tikka is hard to beat :cool:

Waterman;

Don't go take a look at the Tikka SuperVarmint in 6.5 X 55, don't do it! Of course if you do, temptation may strike.
