Finally got a chance to go and shoot my new Tikka Whitetail Hunter Stainless/Synthetic in 25-06 this weekend. Shooting Remington 100gr core-locts(sp).

Gun has a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40, this has got to be one of the best hunting scopes on the market. I like this scope so much that I from now on this is what is going on my guns.

I mounted the scope and boresited it down my hallway last week. I must be good or just damn lucky.

First shot at 70 yards blew up the rock I was aiming at.

Then three shots on paper at 70 yards (I was just too lazy to move a absolutely solid target). Then let the barrel cool before final zeroing.

Before I got a chance to verify where the gun was shooting, my friend bet me that I couldn't hit a water filled milk jug at 206 yards (ranged). Never the one to pass on a challenge, and fully confident I would win(being sure of yourself is half the battle in a challenge), off we went.

Prone with a Harris bi-pod attached, I gently squeezed my nice crisp 3lb Tikka trigger, and bang went the gun and one less water filled milk jug.

From there we went on to shoot rocks at up to 250 yards and were both completely amazed at how the rifle shoots.

My buddy liked it so much he was wishing that he had a Tikka instead of his Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker, and he's got 5 or 6 of them.

I knew there was a reason that I've always wanted a Tikka, now I don't know if I'll ever go back to another brand.

Hopefully the new T3's will be as good as the older generation.

Sorry for the long rant, hopefully you can tell that I'm very happy with my choice. Maybe I'll go back out and shoot it on paper to see what it will do.

Steve :D :D

Good to hear you like it. I'm still trying to find a blued synthetic in 6.5x55 but I fear they are all sold out.

I've come to find out that you should never bet against a guy that shoots a 25-06. As a general rule at least. The two best shooters I know prefer the .25-06 and, of course, it's one of my favorite cartridges as well. :p

Glad you're happy.

Steve, congrats buddy! They're great rifles and it's my favorite cartridge! I have 3 of them. A Rem 700 Sendero, A Ruger varmint, and a Georgeous Sako with laminate stock and medium barrel that I just snagged for $475, been shot 10 times but 8 years old, the guy never used it!:D
