According to Beretta's website, the Tikka Varmint is only a mere 7 ounces heavier than the Tikka Lite. Does that sound right to you? If it is, it would seem that the Varmint is the way to go. It's light enough to carry all day in the woods but can be used as a range/varmint gun.
Just wondering because I'm seriously considering a Tikka over a Savage 12 for my next rifle, which will primarily be used to put holes in paper, but might also shoot a deer next season. (I don't want to turn this into a Savage vs. Tikka thread, but if you had an opinion, I'd love to hear it. I own a Savage 12FV in .223 and like it a lot, but thought maybe I'd try something different.
