'Til Next Season

So, as usual, I'm browsing through the hunting threads trying to soak up as much as I can, when it hits me again. I'm not going to be able to deer hunt for another 8 months, and I'm not going to be able to use a gun on 'em for another 9! I'm one of those people who look forward to the next deer season from the end of the previous one. What am I going to do? I always turkey hunt in the spring, but I really don't get into it like I do deer. What do you do during the "off-season" to hold you over until season makes its way back around?

I have a bow target in the back yard (the shape of a Deer)
Then from there I go to the range.... alot. Just to make sure
that I have my form up to par, Standing, sitting, prone, one
knee, from the bench, ect, ect. Then on top of that I day
dream......alot! It keeps me going

Turning wrenches on this keeps me busy most of the spring and summer.

I've been planting trees, cutting bushes and getting ready to sow forage crops. There is a lot that a person can do to increase the land's carrying capacity for game, cutting down erosion and cleaning up.

Plus bird watching and planning for the spring turkey hunt.

Deer season ended in Alabama on Jan 31. Fishing started for me on Feb 1.

Quail thru February ... Feral hog ... coyotes ... crows Maybe a little fishin' ...

Rabbit, squirrel, bobwhite's, spring turkey, and lots of range time. In most of NY, you can only use a shotgun with slugs, or a muzzleloader to hunt Deer. I got into muzzleloading and practice that alot. I made some steel plates into siluetas (I know I spelled that wrong, sorry) to shoot behind my parent's house (Dad has a range) and I plan to dent them up a bit.

We race this car up at Lancaster, Late Model class (basicly a modified with a full body anymore). Did some racing at R-ville back in the 70's & 80's with a dirt modified (I grew up in Ransomville). I hooked up with this guy 3 years ago, he needed another wrench, and I was getting the itch again
