Anybody else end deer season empty handed?

Technically my season isn't over yet, as there are a couple of counties that can harvest deer through March in my area, but...

Due to illness and work conditions, I really didn't get a chance to get out during deer season, so YES.

No luck for me this year, not with deer at least. I recently had to change my diet, so I'm not eating meat as often as I was previously, plus I am the only meat eater in the house. I realized early on in deer season that I still had meat in the freezer, so I had the option to be picky about my deer this year. Plus I hunt on my own land, so I really think about deer management. I did alright with bird, turkey, small game and pig, so my season wasn't a total loss by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm pretty sure there is still late season muzzle-loader coming up in my area. Maybe my luck will change. If not I'm still satisfied.

edit: nope, I missed late season. Oh well, I guess it's spring turkey and the awful smell they bring with them!

I killed two with arrows, another with a T.C. .50 Hawkin early on.
My later "rifle season" was a disaster.
Good eatin' for awhile however1

I ended up with an empty-handed deer season before it even started. My wife had a knee replacement surgery on the Monday before opening day. I turned in my tag the day before opening day so I could keep my points + 1 for next year.

Nope I killed 3 does and missed a very good buck this year. So definitely not empty handed but a bit sore about missing the buck.

I hunted all day long in stands, still hunted the whole property taking plenty of time, and even had corn out. I didn't see anything but a billion squirrels.

Hindsight makes me wish I had sat with my suppressed 22 and eaten fried of grilled squirrel every night, but that's when I would have seen the monster buck I bet.

I didn't get a deer but had a great time , spent time with my son and his wife and grandchildren and son I law. Deer will be there next year , lord willing I will be too and I'll try again!

You have a funny definition of "empty handed"... :scrutiny:
I like to shoot a "racked buck" as well as the next guy but I've learned over the years to keep my freezer in the priority ranks.
Here in PA the seasons have become really liberal and if I have the Doe tags I can hunt!
I enjoy the venison and it NEVER goes to waste!
Do I hunt for meat?
No, the good meat is a by-product of the efforts that I enjoy!
