Get a 642

My thoughts exactly. If you like .45, the Taurus PT145 fits the price range, but I don't own one so no personal experience. My wife carries a 642 and loves it.

I don't have a very good opinion of Beretta after that POS .22 Jet Fire I had. Thing was a jammamatic. Tried everything, couldn't make it work. That's probably not a really good indicator of Beretta, but hey, I don't like .32 either.

That's surprising to me. I have a Jetfire .25 just because it's a fun little thing to shoot with, and I've never been able to make it jam no matter what brand I put through it or how fast I empty it. That, and it's a SOLID, well-made little thing.

Could be the reliability difference between centerfire and rimfire cartridges, maybe? Dunno.

Probably. .22 ain't noted for its reliability in feeding or firing. I know this, too, from experience. .25 is a MUCH better mouse caliber, designed for those little guns in the first place.

At one time or another I've owned eight .38 special snubbies--Smith & Wesson Models 37 (square butt) and 49, a couple old model Charter Arms Undercover .38's, a couple Colt Detective Specials (third issue), an old model Taurus 85, and a S&W 642-2. I carry the 642-2 in my front pants pocket in a Mika pocket holster. I'd have to say it's my favorite. Of your choices, I would buy the 637. I would spend $50, even $100 more, to buy a Smith instead of a Taurus (or Charter Arms).

Seecamp

The small .32 Seecamp is a great pocket carry. Can be found on a major auction site for $340. Very dependable, easy to carry, and light. Whatever you choose, good luck with your new gun.

I had a Tomcat for a while, but the lack of an extractor and the fact that it had to be PERFECTLY clean to operate reliably did little to add to the lack of confidence I had in the little .32 ACP. I'll admit that it was nice for quick summertime trip to the grocery store. Don't forget a good pocket holster to keep out the aforementioned lint!

I'd like to have a pocket gun again someday, but for now, if I don't want to carry the 1911, I just strap on the Makarov.

The Naa Guardian series or maybe the KT's or my fav the Smith 642

Either work very well and conceal easily in a pocket holster

Well, I have been doing more looking.

I have pretty well decided to not go for the exposed hammer Taurus 85 or S&W 637. The Tomcat is a distant 3rd, attractive mainly for the price and size. A distant 3rd because it is a .32ACP. The Taurus 851 (ultralight) and the S&W 638/642 siblings are pretty much neck and neck. The Smith, well, it's a Smith & Wesson, so it is a more known quantity. The Taurus felt better in my hand and has a slight price advantage.

Eventually I might add some Crimson Trace grips, so that would make the Taurus and Smith pretty even there. The 642 can be had for about $360, the 638 for $10 more. Unless I can get the Taurus for about $300 (doubt it), I will probably just spring for the 638.

bereta's .32 is more finicky, and bigger, and heavier than the kel-tec, --really-- and it cost more. My p-32 just works really good--- lube, no lube, dirty, whatever.

P-32 jeez! Its the only pistol I ever woke up in the morning thinking damn, I forgot to pull that pistol out of my pocket last nite.

BondArms 10mm Derringer

firing Double Tap (DoubleTapAmmo.com). That'd be my choice for a pocket gun. It will rip a hole a big, bad hole in the chest of a bad guy and is a very, very small handgun.

The end of the matter

Well, I was going to wait until Friday and drive to a gun shop farther away, but I stopped in to one on my way home and saw a deal that was good enough (the $10 I would have saved for the gun I would have spent in gas getting there).

Note my signature now. I guess I had better go check in for my 642 club membership...
