If we have a 2nd Amendment win in McDonald v. Chicago how long until you think we start seeing some positive effects?

I'm assuming some could be years and many cases from now.

Effects will be entirely dependant upon the wording, intent and scope of the ruling.

In a nutshell it will depend upon the decision, if made, as to what level of scrutiny must be applied to 2A.

In any case, even with a ruling of say, Heightened Intermediate Scrutiny, all that provides are the grounds to then litigate.

Do you imagine for one moment that NY, NJ and CA will just drop their asinine remnants of the AWB or Daley open Chicago to hand guns without a fight.....?

The laws in each case will have to be challenged.

The positive immediate action will be to make NEW laws challengable on Constitutional grounds before they hit the books.

Social change takes time. In 1954 the Supreme Court in Brown v Board of Education outlawed school desegregation. Yet, nine years later in 1963 George Wallace swore: "I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever."

Schools were desegregated nevertheless.

Like George Wallace, the anti-gun bigots won't take their defeat easily. But they will take it.

If you don't think Heller has made a difference, just imagine what it would be like if Heller had lost.
