I was at an event known as a HUMMER HAPPENING two days ago, here in Miami FL. Ever been to one? A couple of dealerships put them on for Hummer owners. I'm NOT an owner but I am family friend's of the owners of the dealership so I got invited and used a dealer H3 (2008 H3 Alpha V-8).

In 2005 I did the same thing with an H2. The guys from corporate come in and take a local park to set up an obstacle course worthy of these vehicles. They use heavy earth moving equipment to dig and build the berms.

Folks, I'm talking hills straight up so that all you can see is SKY and down thru 3 feet of mud and over the logs and...well...I felt like I was on SAFARI. But then they've got a series of door prizes and free massages and free Cuban cigars and free FOOD on a 5 star level.

I was extremely impressed with the '08 H3 Alpha. I thought of it as a gimmick designed to bring in folks not able to afford it's big brother (H2). I have to admit at 10 grand less it's a heckuva bargain.

My point is that I do love these vehicles. Mostly for me it's the ability to get the heck out of this area (Miami, FL) in the event of another catastrophic storm like Andrew was for us (I've been thru 12 Hurricanes in my life, including Andrew) or Katrina was for N.O. Or in the event of a massive WMD terror attack.

Folks don't seem to understand that SUV control is also defacto GUN CONTROL and NWO style people control. Without these types of 4x4s, it's possible to simply lock down the nations roads and highways using state police and local cops or the state National Guard. :banghead:

There would be no way any "normal" vehicle could hope to go deep off road and bypass blocked choke points.
:neener:

Moreover: Kill these vehicles and other 4x4s and the ability to get to many hunting grounds is gone. If you can't get to a hunt or get your game out of an area, then you have no more "sporting" reason to own your sniper... ummmm... I MEAN bolt action, scoped, HUNTING rifle.:uhoh:

I'm just about surrounded by coastal swamp or Everglades but there are still roads and paths thru the area. I've walked them and I know I could get an H3 or H2 thru too, especially in the dry season. I forgot to mention as a US Army officer from the 1980s I was in one of the original troop "test" outfits for the original HUMVEE and I along with the entire division was factory trained in their use. H2 is every bit as capable as H1 except in fording depth and then it's still close.

OKAY! If you own a Hummer 1, 2 or 3 OR any full size SUV or pickup in 4x4 tell us whatcha got, how is it equipped and answer the following questions.

The one down side is the MILEAGE. What's yours? What's your max effective range, especially off road? Do you have a way to carry (safely) extra fuel? Would you buy another similar if it were in a diesel?

Finally take a look at THIS, my "DREAM RIDE:"

http://www.sportsmobile.com/ultimate.html

Fully loaded it's about the same (or a tad more) as H2 Adventure series and the interest is tax deductible! Also available with a 15 yr mortgage.

The Sportsmobile is a diesel 4x4 as capable as any H1, H2 or H3. Effective range on the hardball (blacktop road) with optional expanded fuel capacity is around ummmmm 1200 miles. On a single tank + four "Jerry Cans" in a special rack on the rear bumper (5 gal each).

C'mon folks! What's yer mode of transport? Anybody anticipate hunting from a Segway? They DO make an offroad model.
