Amen. Senator Ayotte was one of the finest state attorneys general in New Hampshire history. I doubt that anyone else in the Senate has so strong and realistic a grasp of criminal justice issues as she. Instead of voting for the meaningless, feel-good Universal Background Check, she is working in much more meaningful areas of crime prevention. Senator Ayotte is indeed deserving of all of our support.

I can't find the link just now but apparently she was confronted by the daughter of the principal killed at Sandy Hook during a town hall style meeting. The woman demanded to know why she didn't support the UBC bill. Senator Ayotte gave a very well reasoned and thought out reponse after which the other woman stormed out of the meeting.

I'm sympathetic to everyone who lost somebody at Sandy Hook. But Senator Ayotte made the right decision in voting against UBCs. They would have done nothing to stop any of the shootings in the past few years, much less Adam Lanza. We need to support this Senator with everything we have.

She was castigated by some for her vote to allow S 649 to go to the Senate floor. But based on hearing her speak on the 2nd Amendment several times prior, I thought at the time that her vote there was a tactical one. She proved that correct when she voted against the bill on the floor.

Senator Ayotte is the one good senator that we have from New Hampshire. I have written to her to express my concerns on several pieces of legislation, and her office has always been good about responding. She has also voted, more often than not, in accord with the wishes that I and other constituents of hers expressed, and for this I have thanked her more than once.

I think that her vote for cloture on the Senate bill to go to a floor vote was calculated strategy, as I feel it was for other republicans there. It forced the Democrats to have to go public with their gun-control/anti-2A votes on record, which will (hopefully) seal the deal for a number of them to stay at home after the next election. I think that Senator Ayotte is intelligent, a good strategist, and also has a very logical, methodical mind. I wish we could clone her and replace our other Senator (ex-governor) Jeanne Shaheen as Senator Shaheen is very much a "follow the party" Democrat.

There was a headline story on NBC news this evening on the dustup between Ayotte and the victim's daughter. Then, of course, they expanded the story to say that other senators who voted against the UBC bill were facing protests in their home districts, with the intimation that they would face major difficulties in the next election.

We should do all we can to support every senator who voted against the UBC bill. If all of them win re-election in a walk, it will do much to put the lie to the media screaming about how "90%" of Americans support it.:evil::evil:

I read another story today how the antis are sending victims family members in a "grass roots effort" to all the town hall meetings of "centrist" senators in an effort to sway and/or shame them into voting for UBC when it comes back up again.

I've also seen it on CNN (break room at work, not my choice). The media makes it sound like there is a mass uprising of the citizenry attending these town hall meetings. Maybe we need to do just that (pack them deep with supporters from our side). We seemed to do it when the bills were on the table, we probably should do it now. Too bad I don't live in NH.

I think New Hampshire people who suppport the 2nd Amendment should make a point of contacting her and perhaps attending some sort of town hall if she is hosting one. If you keep hearing UBC this and reasonable that... it works on you and you need a counter balance.

She is one of my senators. I wrote her and thanked her for her courageous stance. She is catching flak from the entire nation as well as from many of her constituents. The Granite State is not as liberty-minded as it once was.
Please email her to thank her... especially you fellow Live-Free-or-Diers.

She is one of my senators as well. I've already sent her an email stating she has my continuing support of her positions on gun control issues. I sent this right after the televised encounter between her and the daughter of a Newtown victim.

Sen. Ayotte is catching some flack for allowing the debate on the gun control bill to go forward and then voting against it. She has my support for that as well. I hate the idea of important legislation being passed or defeated by some backroom trickery. If a bill I like passes I want to feel it had majority support. If something I support is defeated I want to see who voted against it and why so I can do something about it at the ballot box next time.

Come on Granite Staters. Show your support for Sen. Ayotte.

Dan

Sent an email expressing my support and appreciation. Even if you're not one of her constituents, she needs to hear from us that we are watching and taking notes.
