There is a new show on Discovery called Time Warp where they take super slow motion video of stuff and then replay it. Very cool. They did a body armor segment, which was incredibly interesting to watch, especially what happens when a round hits ceramic plates. Basically the round disintegrates, protecting the center mass of the person, but shrapnel from the round and the plate goes everywhere.
Anyway, they kept saying the guy was shooting a "306." Is there such a round? I couldn't tell if they meant 30.06 or 308, but they said 306 several times. Maybe I don't know as much as I thought I did, but I've never heard of a 306 round.
I just saw another episode on skeet shooting. Very cool to watch the spread. They shot bird shot through a full choke at what looked like 20 yards, and it was basically just a mass of shot, very little spread. It took out only two balloons out of a whole bunch. Those who say that birdshot is not an effective HD round need to watch that. That mass of birdshot will punch a nice size hole in anyone.
