Considering either the Jard or Timney for a target rife.

Anyone have an opinion and/or experience with either or both?

From the reviews it looks like any thumbed-monkey can install the Timney. Anyone know if this is true for the Jard.

The Jard it available in different pull weights. I have adjusted the trigger on my Howa to a lower pull weight, but I have no idea what that weight is. I'm considering the 19oz. Jard. Or, for a target only gun, would you just go straight to the lowest pull weight in any given trigger? (14oz. for Jard. The Timney is adjustable.)

I have a JARD in an AR, which may be enough different from the bolt action trigger to invalidate my experience, but... It was a LOT more trouble to install than they would have you think. Trigger pull is good, but not up to the latest designs.

The Howa version looks like a straight drop-in and should be ok. You can get it at a lower pull weight than most Timneys will adjust to. If you don't know your current trigger pull, find out before you buy a new one. A pound and a half is about as low as I want to go and still be able to handle the 3lb setups, but many folks like them very light.

Thanks, Jim.

I think I'm one that's going to like it very light. I'll see if I can figure out approximately what the trigger weight is now.
