Ok, I want one of these now.

Also

Basically, it's what happens if you go "Can we make an AR a short-stroke piston action?"
While also going "Let's build it with as many AR parts as we can, too!"

Wonder who will import these, though. SAI is already importing the Hellion, so they may not be keen to compete with themselves on this.

Given the build methodology, I also have to wonder if PSA will look into a clone version.

Gotta admit - that looks like a very well engineered rifle - and the fact that so many parts are AR compatible would make 922r compliance a breeze if they wanted to import them.

they would have a very long wait for the patents to expire unless they are going to pay royalties.

I like the AR18 style bolt carrier just for the folding stock compatibility but I really don’t get why everyone wants to move the gas piston on the AR15 from the bolt carrier to somewhere else.

It is, but isn't an AR18.

It's a single spring around a short-recoil piston that's right over the chamber. So, the weight is back over the middle of the action. And not out at the end, 416 style.

There's still a gas tube in AR style, but all the moving parts are in the length of the receiver.
In a different review, it's stated that stock AR barrels can be used.

Which is part and parcel of how it's to be offered in 6.5 and 30BO, too.

Now, the real issue will be if Tinck has taken out US patents. This beastie has so much "prior art" it might be difficult to patent anything but the piston & recoil spring. And, possible the novel guide rod that keeps the bolt from rotating once it unlocks (see 08:10 in Ian's video).
