I know many of you folks had good training in going from carry to good shot placement. I'm asking for tips to improve combat shooting skills before I get a chance to go to a good class. What are the best tips you practice? I wonder what good books on the topic might be recommended?
Thanks and God bless all on THR:)

Most highly recommend:

Visit your local IPSC and IDPA club(s), and participate.

Your skills will increase, as will your confidence.
And safety.

Fact: combat is mental.

The best tip I can give you, and this works for any high-stress situation, is NOT TO PANIC.

Panic kills.

That said, lot's of practice. WESTSHOOT's got it right, get involved in IDPA and/or IPSC competitions at your local club.

Surgical Speed Shooting by Andy Stanford

Dated, and I'm not a Weaver fan, but The Tactical Pistol by Gabe Suarez is worth the $15 from amazon.com

Jeff Gonzales's book is excellent too.
