Tired of wuss rounds for the FN 5.7

That ammo worked 100% and was amazingly powerful - truly, it lives up to the hype and when I still owned a 5.7 USG was worth every cent. The marketing isn't too great, but don't lump it in with "Extreme Shock Exploding Pants Ammo". ;)

I'm not sure if I can feel good about using a 28g bullet for defense against a human. I guess it's cool that it can defeat Level II body armor, but it seems like you would have to spray the heck out of someone to stop them with such a minuscule projectile. I am very curious to see how this stuff works in the real world.

Though not this particular brand of ammo, it is the same tiny projectile and gun that killed 13 people in the Fort Hood shooting.

I think the 5.7 is a wicked little round with alot of potential. Unfortunately, that potential will IMHO never be fully achieved until FN allows other companies to freely make guns chambered in their little proprietary cartridge. It's really kind of sad.

My point was that you wouldn't have to "spray the heck out of someone".

While he may have killed 13, 32 survived being shot.

Shortly after the Ft. Hood shooting, I combed many news sources and compiled a summary of shooting data. http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=383495&highlight=hood+shooting&page=4

The shooter apparently did a lot of spray and pray shooting. At least 13 were shot multiple times. Many of the hits were on appendages and not COM or head. Of the thirteen I found that were shot multiple times, only one died. Also of interest is that many of the first responders were fellow soldiers than had been themselves and who worked to protect or evacuate the more seriously wounded.

That may be true, but the percentages would be about the same with any duty handgun loading fired into an unarmored crowd with that level of medical care available in that time-frame.

It's kind of funny really.
Kel Tec reintroduced a 30 shot .22 Magnum.

Now FN is advertising 10 shot extensions for the 5.7 pistol making them 30 shots.

Biggest advantage to the 5.7,,,,
You can reload it provided you can find your brass,,,,:D

Elite Ammo is always on back order, tried to order once and three months passed before I requested a full refund. The lady kept telling me antoher 2-3 weeks and I got tired of waiting and not getting the stuff.

Ummm... that was available long before the KT came out. I remember seeing them years ago.

Those rounds do look pretty cool, but at those prices, I'm expecting them to be High Explosive (HE) tipped.;):D

Black Butte, If you are tired of the wuss loads and don't want to pay the high prices of EA costs, or wait a long time, then it's time to reload. You can get better performance reloading your own than the most current SR197 round available. Kingofthehill, I don't know what type of bullets those are, but they look like something you made on a lathe. Similar to what the Barns Banded Solids are but without the step & tit on the base. LM

eldon519, I don't know what link you are talking about, can't find OP's link. Sorry, I'm lost. LM

Those are the Trident bullets offered by EA. I want to try some, but EA prices are a bit high. The husband and wife seem to be ****** bags as well. Seems their CS is hit or miss and with the bad economy, you would think companies would try to be friendly towards their customer base.
