Titanium Bodyguard???

I was browsing through a copy of the Gun Values book at Barnes and Noble this weekend when I saw a picture of a bodyguard style S&W J-Frame with titanium cylinder and a black frame.

The listing said they are no longer in production, but I was wondering if anyone had the model number of this revolver so I could try to find a used version. I am curious how long it was in production and how many are floating around out there.

UPDATE

I went back to Barnes and Noble and found what I thought I saw and really read it this time. The titanium bodyguard in the book is the model 242 ti in .38 special +P. However it is a K frame I believe. S&W came out with the 296 in .44 special at the same time. The weight of the 242 is more than the 638 Airweight.

Oh well, maybe one day there will be a titanium J frame bodyguard.

stephen, is it just the hump on the back you find appealing or is there a reason you're not looking at the 342 series hammerless titaniums?

I have a model 638 that I really like.

I have considered the 340/342 PD for my next J frame, but I really like the bonus of earing that hammer back for a single action shot on my humpback. I rarely shoot that way, but I like that option.

I really don't know if a 4oz difference between the 638 and the 342 is that big a deal, but I just like the way the way the 340/342PD looks.

I think eventually I will have all three J frame styles, it's just a matter of time, money and sneaking them in the house past the wife.

That is a new gun that will be introduced at SHOT this year. It is a titanium framed bodyguard, a J-frame. If the one you saw was a K-frame, the hammer was probably inclosed more like a Centennial. If the J-frame is a reality I want one to replace my 342. Could it be a 349? I asked that it be made available in 9mm to replace the old 940 and was told not now. Maybe later.
