Howdy folks-

I've had a hankering for a 7.62x39 AK for a while. I'd rather get something less risky than a CAI monkey assembly.

I was in my local shop yesterday and saw a very handsome Bulgarian rebuild in 7.62, the maker's mark said something like "TN guns" or "TN Inc.", don't remember exactly. I assume Tennessee guns? This is a google-based guess: http://www.tnguns.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=27_29

Price was ~$575. Quality seemed pretty good. I couldn't tell that the sights were canted, and there weren't any big hang-ups running the bolt (which was bright instead of park'd).

They also had another AK that I pretty sure was this guy:

I'd much prefer a plain-jane build like the 'TN' I saw. My ideal would be a Saiga conversion, but I never seem to see any available locally.

Does anyone know much about either of these two? Particularly the first?

I don't know much about the TN guns but I have an IO INC. AK 47 C. I actually bought it for 325 otd at my local shop. I was looking for a shotgun and while talkin to the shop owner I asked about the ak on the wall. It was marked $579 but he told me I could have it for 325, it had been sittin there forever.

Now shooting wise I was skeptical at first because of the reviews I read, But honestly I've put around 2,000 rounds through it and had only 1 fail to fire and that was with the first mag I put through it. People bash IO INC. because of questionable customer service. I wouldn't know my gun has been good so far. It's pretty accurate, 2-4 moa at 100 yards, I don't know if the barrel is chrome lined I never found out but I like it. I wouldn't pay over $500 for one though when you can get a saiga and convert it yourself for close to that. I like it! its my "EBR" so to speak take it for what you will but mines worked well.

I've heard good things about TGI (Tennesse Gun International) in general and good things about their FEG receiver AMD 65 builds. I'm planning to add one to my collection at the end of the month.

The only experience I've had with TN was a Mosin 91/30 PU sniper from 43 but that's it and it was pretty good quality.
