The other day I ordered a Suomi from TNW and according to UPS, it should get to my FFL next Wednesday. :D

If you have a Suomi, I have a couple questions:

1. Finnish mag pouches seem scarce. What are you using to carry stick mags? Will STEN, MP-5, MP-40, Czech SMG, or PPsH-41 mag pouches work for the 36 round sticks? Something else made of canvas and leather (I'd rather not use a modern nylon pouch with a 1930s gun).

2. Have you tried any JHPs in your gun and how did they run?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about sticks but if you want to carry the 71rd drums some people have posted that GI canteen pouches fit like they were designed for the role.

If you want to spend a little money, the Lage Manufacturing Suomi belt clip holder works well. It was designed for quick access in machine gun competitions.

Thanks, A_M.

I'm looking more for a shoulder bag for the sticks, although I do have one drum on order. I read elsewhere that the canvas pouches for MAT-49 SMGs will hold the Suomi sticks. Keepshooting.com has them for $11 each so I may just get a couple of those.

Where are you buying your Suomi sticks and drums?
I have a Lage Max31A upper on order for my M11a smg and will be buying some soon.

I got a couple of the MAT-49 pouches from keepshooting.com for the sticks. The pouches are well made and in brand new condition. The shoulder strap has an odd design -- shorter pieces on each side which are connected via a wider piece in the middle, that's detachable and can be stowed in loops under the flap. The side pieces then tuck down into the bag. The bag doesn't have any markings.

The Suomi 36 round stick mags fit perfectly, even if the loop is extended. It also has belt loops on the back if you want to attach it to web gear. This looks like it would be a good pouch for many different subgun magazines.
