I've been shooting a 12ga 28" Citori for the last 2 years. I'm wondering if adding a set of barrel weights would even out my swing or just screw-up the progress I've made. Any thoughts on barrel weights?

In my opinion adding barrel weights has to be considered in overall fit for you to the shotgun. Indeed it may smooth out your swing. But adding weights may make the gun too muzzle heavy and screw up other fit items for you.

I have a 1300 with added weight to reduce felt recoil for me. I added the same amount of weight to the magazine and buttstock in oder to maintain the balance I liked already. It also had a 28 inch barrel where I added an extended choke.

All I am saying is that adding weight can be good, but can cause undesired results if you aren't careful. Tie some temporary weights on it and shoot a few rounds before you spend a bunch of money.

Good luck :)

I can't stand a 12 Gauge Citori with less than 30" barrels. Too much receiver; it needs long barrels to balance it out, IMO.

I'm not sure what effect barrel weight would have on a gun that already doesn't point very well, as opposed to one with a natural point but a bit too quick of a swing.

I put 2" extended chokes on my 12 Gauge 28" Beretta. Adds about 4 oz. to the muzzle. Works great when I want a slower swing, e.g. for clays, but I like the gun as-is for the field. Clays don't fly quite like birds, IMO.

Weight and/or length will help smooth out the barrels. Weight will need to be applied and tried in a variety of spots to find where it works best for you. That may, or may not, be right at the end of the barrel. It also may not take much. Even switching from flush to extended chokes might do the job.

I would start with some lead plumber or roofing tape and try to find the sweet spot for you
