so i found an ugly clunky odd looking toy like pistol in my neighbor hood ace hardware store the other day however for $125 i think i like it :) however i dont wanna wast 125 bucks on something thats about as accurate as a bb gun at 400 yards i wont be using it for self defense really altho i might carry it when i turn 21 and get my ccw but i gess my qestion is. is it worth it? do i buy it and have alot of funn shootin at woodchucks and pop cans or save a TON of money and buy a nicer gun? the gun im looking at is a jimenez arms model 9 i think....anyway its a 9mm made in las vegas arizona i gess that kinda caught my eye to is that its made in good old u.s.a anyways any help is appreciated

Save your money for a better piece. Also be sure it is OK in your state for a minor to even own/purchase a handgun.

who said i was a minor? i said i was under 21 not that i was under 18? but since u asked i am 15 and in my state it is not legal for me to own but since my dad is with me alll the time when i go hunting anyway im allowed to hunt/shoot with it whens hes around that can mean hes working in the garage as im blasting at furry things outside the garage. ive been around guns since before i could walk ive never shot anyone or anything i purposly was not trying to hit ive been rabbit hunting since i was around 7 with dogs (beagles) and have never even came close to shooting one of them so as far as safety goes im coverd dont worry unlike what the t.v. says minors can handle firearms without shooting someone if brought up with them or just flat out trained properly

It gives me a headache reading your posts. You may want to use punctuation and capitalization to make it easy on people that read your thread.

Anyway, I really do not want to argue with you about your capability handling firearms as a minor. I'm sure there are 12 year olds out there that can outshoot me. However, your maturity comes into question with some of the statements you made.

If I were you, I would ask my dad about this handgun purchase if he has been mentoring you on the shooting sports. Ultimately, he will have to purchase any firearm for you at this time and you are his responsibility both ethically and legally. I would defer to his decision. Stay safe.

P.S. I would not trust my life, or any bystanders' for that matter, on a Jimenez.

[P.S. I would not trust my life, or any bystanders' for that matter, on a Jimenez.] thats realy all you needed to write instead of trying to insult me and my terrible punctuation and as far as maturity goes would you care to point out some of these statements i made that was oh so imature?

Oh, good, it wasn't just me disturbed by his ramblings.
Also, Las Vegas is in Nevada, not Arizona.

the one i looked at in ace said las vegas az so unless nevada changed their state initals over nigh and no one told me then.....

6-gunfun: I did not mean to insult you. If it comes across as that, I apologize. It is difficult for me personally to read run-on sentences in low-caps. That is not meant to disparage your writing skills.

I do not want to get in a word war with you about certain statements that I find disturbing coming from a 15-year old contemplating buying a handgun. Again, I am not questioning your firearms proficiency. It's just that there is a time and place for everything. If I were in your situation, I really would sit down and talk with my dad about it. Let's leave it at that.

well thank you for apoligizing and yes i understand that whole run on sentance was

annoying. but i was trying to do three things at once lol sorry tho i should have taken

time and as far as the gun part thanks for the advice on the Jimenez i thought 125 for a

9mm was a little sketchy when i saw it especialy that whole "cocked revolver" warning

thing on it. it made it look like an airsoft gun.as far as my dad he realy dosent care im

using my money for both the gun and ammo for it and im not using it destuctivly(

robing/shooting people) or any other illegal activity

+1

Another lovely side benefit to this Texting Age we are currently living in. Apparently punctuation takes up valuable character spaces, just like "tho" for "though". Unfortunately, on a Firearms Forum where so many different personalities and opinions collide, one should use proper grammar and punctuation in order to get their point/question/comments across properly.

i already have 3 .22 rifles and one handgun im very good with the handgun thats why i wanted to step up to a 9mm i realy like .44 mags but to expensive right now

Stay away from Jiminez. If $125 is what you have to spend, find a used HiPoint.

Did I mention stay away from Jiminez? And that includes Bryco, Jennings, Lorcin, and and any other "Ring of Fire" handgun.

Read up on them. Do they work? Yeah, sometimes, but they don't last, and they are very un-safe.

Jimenez makes unmitigated crap.

If you really want to learn how to shoot a handgun, you should look into finding some local Steel Challenge matches and get your Dad to take you to go watch them. It will give you an idea of what sort of handguns people use, what brands are considered reliable enough, and it can be a good way to get an intro to proper handgun shooting.

i can shoot a handgun i dont have one...i shot taruses "judge" the other day its fun but not practicle it threw slugs like no other (in .410) i never got to shoot the .45 colt rounds threw it tho. and like i said i already have a .22/ .22 mag herritage rough rider im just lookin for sumthin bigger

Yeah, I bought one of the Judges last year. Big disappointment to me. Traded it off for a Ruger Blackhawk convert. Much better, LOL...... I agree with a lot of the guys on here, stay away from the Jiminez, they are junk. You'll be very disappointed in it. A friend of mine bought a Jennings 22 years ago and threw it in the trash the same day, LOL..... If you're going to get a cheap pistol, go for the Hi-Point. They are a little ugly and a little heavy, but they are a whole lot better gun. Either way, it's good to see you taking a intrest in handling guns the right way. :)

You'd be better off with a dry turd in a tube sock than with that jiminez, I would hold out for a quality handgun and continue being proficient with the Heritage Rough Rider for the time being as I used to own the Heritage Rough Rider and its really a great inexpensive gun.

Don't disgrace yours and your fathers home with such useless steel, its not even worth its weight in scrap, come to think of it.....is talking about a Jiminez even allowed on THR?

BTW, I really loved that old Heritage Rough Rider I used to have, it had interchangeable cylinders for .22 and .22mag. Unfortunately my father sold it for $80 when I was 15 to buy groceries

You could walk down just about any aisle in that hardware store and find a much better alternative for killing things than you could with that (expletive deleted).
