You know, to be honest I really didn't think it was going to happen. Also note that Daschle has not conceded yet, nor are all precincts counted. Everyone is calling it a Thune win so I should start celebrating, but...I'm sure we can count on lawsuits being filed by Daschle this morning yet.

I would hope to see Daschle and the Democrats lame, when Congress reconvenes in two weeks, by which time Ohio will have counted provisional ballots, and many other results will be firmly established. That, of course, depends upon the lawsuit and recount possibilities in the interim.

I would really like to see Daschle's disingenuous remarks about bipartisanship be a thing of the past. In any case, I would rather hear it from someone else.

Beyond that, hurray for another GOP Senate seat, but that's a big one with a broader message, which I think would be that whoever is the spokesman for minority or opposition party maneuvering is going to take some lumps. I doubt the line for a Daschle successor as minority leader will be very long.

Amen, Realgun. It would be nice if the message was "The American people want team players who get things done on behalf of their constituency; not some egotistical nabob who postures for the fun of it."

I really dislike Daschle. He's nothing more than a smarmy little wiener. I mean, at least the other Bad Guys on the left have a little bit of gravitas. Daschle comes off as the kid who got swirlies all the time in the boys room having a little bit of revenge.

Good bye, good riddance, now STFD and ****, Tom ... and other decidedly non-High-Road thoughts. :D

fellas... daschle is scheduled to give a press conference in about 30 minutes... we'll see what happens.

i stayed up last night waiting for the cheaters in shannon county to take the election back to tom, but at 4:00, thune gave a victory speech, and i was tired - i just went to sleep hoping his 6500 vote lead would carry over.

i see his lead was trimmed while we slept, but thune still has more votes, and cnn and the local news and the a.p. have all called the race for thune.

even as late as last night, i was calling friends and family who had not yet voted, and talked them into voting, and to do it for thune. everybody i called and pleaded w/ voted for thune except for one goofy person - but that's ok, she's a lost cause anyway. i did everything i possibly could to convince people it was time to dump daschle. there were a lot of good folks who felt the same as i... let's hope he's done!

i'm thinking its celebration time!

Time for the folks of SD to sing a couple of songs for [soon to be] Former Sen. 'Tommy the Commy' Daschle..

"Thank God & Greyhound You're Gone"

and now a rousing chorus of "Ding! Dong! The Witch is Dead."

:neener: :D :neener: :D

(little tom)daschle

Bush has been criticized for not being in charge pre 9/11 and controlling terrorist problem.
Some but obviously not all, have forgotten the many months of ineffectiveness of changeover brought on primarily by daschle and a few other obstructionist dems.
While the country was in danger, they fought a petty party battle to make governing impossible.
If anyone is to blame for 9/11, I think it is those obstructionists.
The people of S. Dakota are to be saluted for choosing principle over self interest. Daschle had a lot of power, and threw it away, a loss for the people of his state. What a self interested, partisan, petty, obnoxious, whining, stupid moron he was.

yeah, he was...

he just gave his concession speech, and thru most of it instead of the usual thank-you's, and let's pull together stuff, he was stumping - sounded like a campaign speech.

i feel that if daschle was not the minority leader, the election would've been an embarrassing landslide.

i know when i cast my vote for thune, i really was not thrilled about giving up the clout that s.d. has. on the other hand, i really wanted the senator who represents none of my s.d. views out of office. like i said, if daschle didn't hold that position in the senate, i think it woulda been a 70% or better vote for thune...

Thank you South Dakota! Adios Tom.

I figgered that SD elected him just to get his whiny little patoot outta the state in the first place.

Anyone in SD need a sign stating, "NO DOGS OR DASCHLE'S ALLOWED"

I don't think we have heard the last of Mr. Daschle. He will maintain a residence in Washington and the Dems will find a job for him. The main thing is that he will now be far less annoying, at least I hope so.
