This is the question - whether 'tis better to trade for a Springfield WWII Mil-Spec or keep a Kahr K9.

If I keep the K9, it's gotta get an Elite trigger, $50 or so all told. Trade difference for the Springfield, $50. I like the Kahr, but will lose money on the trade. But I really, really want that Springfield.

And no, I can't keep both. Mrs. Pebcac would break in the new gun - on my butt. :D

I also posted this same thread on 1911forum.com.

Can you just save up for the Springfield or is this a one-time opportunity?

I'd say don't make the trade. Just my opinion.

Well dont know much about the Kahr but I shot my friends Springfield WWII this weekend and what a gun shoots great. I was surprised how accurate this thing was even with such small sights almost shot as good as my Kimber TLE. I am going to save up for that WWII. But to answer your question I would do it.. :D

I picked up a WWII Springfield a few weeks ago for $375.

It shoots great, and I can now say I'm a member of the 1911 club.

But these are two totally different guns. If you carry, keep the Kahr. It's smaller, lighter (but not really by that much, not factoring in ammo of course), and more easily concealed.

Buf if it's for home defense, plinking, etc, then the 1911 might be right for you. Think long and hard before you get rid of a gun. You just might regret it one day.

Either way, you probably can't go wrong, though.

The 1911 will cost more in the long run because of all the cool aftermarket stuff available for it. I say get the Springfield, it's a 45..more powerful than the Kahr and doesn't cost a lot more to shoot. Lots more accessories for the 1911.

Pebcac,

If you don't mind, what trade in price are you getting on the K9, and what kind of shape is it in? I'm considering the same.

PM me if you don't want to say publicly.

Can't you work some overtime?

That's what I do, 5 days of overtime = gun! And no guilty feelings at all, since it's money I wouldn't have had unless I wanted a gun! :D
