What is the proper max AOL for the 7.62X25? The book says 1.377".

I have been using Hornady 86gr, RNSP bullets, that measure .511" long. The box is marked ".30 Mauser", which is .308". I load the same for both the Tokarevs and the Broomhandles. The absolute maximum AOL I can get is about 1.350". That is crimped at the very bottom of the cannelure. They load, fire, and eject well.

The photos I've seen show a bullets that look a lot longer, but they are not identified. What is out there that is longer?

Can I assume I'm OK with the .027" shorter cartridge?

You do realize you are talking about less than 3 one-hundreds of an inch, right? Differences that small in OAL can happen during manufacturing.

Different bullets will of course have different lengths. It's not really the COAL that matters as much as how much bullet is inside the case. I would not worry about the OAL unless the ammo you load gives you a problem feeding. Do the Plunk Test and if the ammo passes you are fine...
