tokarev tt as a practice gun

Lets see, cheapest 9mm I've seen recently is $200/1000 Can still get 7.62x25 for $130/1200. Less than 3000 rounds to pay for the pistol. That is not a lot of shooting for me. YMMV.

And, by casting, I can load for $60 a thousand. Let's see, around 200 bucks worth of equipment and supplies to get started reloading, Paid for all that equipment and the supplies with it and are in the black inside 1400 rounds.

Your call. I paid off my equipment years ago by this reasoning, but in reality, what reloading does, is let you shoot more often. That formula applies to most any caliber, too, so long as you are casting. If you're not casting, figure 12 dollars a hundred using bulk cast bullets.

Wouldn't it be feasible to but the muzzle brake for a .22 on upside down so it increased muzzle lift to be more like a 9mm? and the tokarev is a great gun for the money, and the ammo is dirt cheap, i say go for it. if your into high volume practice then you can't beat it.

You can rationalize the cost easily enough. The accuracy and reliability of mine is extremely nice. You can purchase new carry ammo (hp or magsafe) at sportsmans guide or cabellas. I would not keep it loaded with FMJ since it does penetrate extremely well. Compared to 9mm, 45ACP, or 357mag, the 7.62x25 was the only handgun round to penetrate a Kevlar Helmet at http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot29.htm

to shoot cheap... makes perfect sense. To save money... not so much. The only way to save money in buying something (that produces nothing) is to sell something else... if you replaced your 9mm with a tok then you would be saving money. If you are anything like me, the tok just gives you ANOTHER gun to shoot... granted it is cheaper to shoot. For most people, reloading takes forever to actually save them anything just for the initial investment needed to start. Will I get into reloading? absolutely, but I wont do so exclusively to save money. I will reload to ensure availability, to customize loads, and in time will save money as an afterthought.

Of course, if primers dont come more available, that is just pissing in the wind.
