Jeezy peezy. My company's not getting much out of me today. Work-wize, anyhow. I'm just too excited to work today.

I'm leaving NC tomorrow morning for 3 days of fun and sun at TDI Ohio this weekend. It'll be my first trip there, and also my first formal training since the 1 day CCW training I took 2 years ago, which barely counts. I'm embarrassed for waiting so long to get proper training.

I've done all sorts of stuff I never do... like make up lists of stuff to pack. :)

Anything obviously missing?

Maybe the kitchen sink. Seriously though....I'm jealous. Have fun.

Actually, make sure you check the batteries to your flashlight before leaving. Sorry, that's the only thing I could come up with.

Let us know how you like it.

Aleve for the pain that is about to assault your old bones....

And Bonnie to stablize your balance and stop the pukies....

Hydrate and more hydrate. As much as you can carry.

Have fun!

Oh yeah! Batteries! Good call Doc. I forgot them, and would not have remembered.

And Bonnie to stablize your balance and stop the pukies....

Hmm. What's this, Seagull? (And you're right about the old bones. Aleve is now on the list.)

Bonnie is known as Meclizine, travel sickness preventative medicine.

Or just pack a Pepto Bismol or Bromo etc.

Add thick, heavy duty medical tape. Band-aids won't last.

A notebook.

A ball cap.

Bring a good set of wrap around shooting glasses, or get the attachments for prescription frames if you wear them.

Both plugs and muffs are nice for hearing protection. You'll be shooting a lot, and the constant blasts from all the handguns will fatigue you.

Bug juice. Yes, they're starting to come out already.

Not really a necessity, but a camera to document and remember things, both pictures and in short videos of techniques.

Oh, I forgot the boots.

Break em in two weeks prior.

I wore a pair of Infantry boots when I made a 1100 foot rock climb in a particular place where such activity is severly frowned upon... man I was full of oats in those days....

Those boots were the difference between life and death traction wise.

Pretty comprehensive list :).

The only real missing item I see is raingear. I usually bring a set, regardless of the forecast.

I'd second Ken's recommendation of a notebook (unless that's what the computer's for). To really get your money's worth out of this investment, you'll want to take good notes and then drill what you've been shown once you get home. Class does not impart skillsets. Class shows you what to practice in order to impart skillsets.

Enjoy and consider posting a review.

Maybe small tube of Hydrocortisone Cream. The best thing for inSUCKt
bites like mosquitoes and spiders.

Ok, lessee. I'll add Hydrocortosone, bugspray, and Peppo. Thanks guys. And a NOTEBOOK! Excellent. That's a great idea. Thanks, BFKen. Puter is just for getting there and seeing what you fellers are up to in the evenings.

The Frog Toggs are rain gear. They used to be made for motorcyclists, but now I see better colors in the outdoor apparel section of Gander Mtn.

Now, well broken in boots, and new laces. Check. And medical tape. Looks like I'm ready. Dang! This ammo's heavy. Better take EXTRA advil.

Looks like I'm 'bout ready. Thanks guys. I'll send an Update Friday night if I can.

If you are going to be outdoors in any kind of grass, weeds, woods you will need tick repelent as they are out in Ohio already and we do have deer ticks and lime disease though not pervasive. Also, mosquitoes can be a problem depending on environment and we do have West Nile virus although again not prevasive.

Post a log/review.

Oh yes, knee pads?

Dress for hot flying brass. You will not believe how much brass flies around on a firing line in a class. And it can find every nook and cranny to get to bare skin.

Better than a baseball cap, a flop hat. And a triangular bandage, big bandanna or the like to tie around your neck to keep stuff out of your collar. Consider adding long sleeve button up shirts to the wardrobe, and button 'em all the way up. Ditto the suggestion for wraparound shooting glasses or something to keep brass out of your frames.

Looks as if you have things pretty well covered...

lpl

And hydrate. Aleve will settle you out and all that covering helps you dehydrate faster as you strain under that weight of your coursework.

heee heee hee.

I must say I'm pretty jealous too. I took handgun level 1 and 2 there and really regret not taking 3. I plan on training more there when i have the funds which may be awhile. Which classes are you taking? Whatever they are have fun and you'll learn a lot.

Are you planning to shoot all those handguns? Just courious..

No. Only 1 or 2, but I wasn't sure which they'd be when I packed up. I was hoping to use the XDm40 all weekend, but if I was not going to be allowed to pick up brass at the end of the day, I would use a 9mm. Turns out, not only is picking up brass permitted, only 3 of the 29 students wanted any of it.

Anyhow, the XDm(s) have a 7 pound trigger pull, and I didn't know if these old hands could make the round count with those triggers, so the Berettas came along in case the ol' bugger hook reached a point it could no longer pull. The Berettas have a 3 pound pull.

magazine loader? I would really hate to have to hand load all those rounds.

Oh yes, indeed. I brought 2. One of those LULA units, that you pretty much need to use on a bench, and an HKS hand loader, which of course is hand held. I loaned out the LULA, and the people I loaned it to were only here for the first two days, and I didn't know it. I'll have to replace it when I get home.

Stand by for Level III review, coming up in a few minutes.
