The fellow gave us 'the 3 rules of gun safety'.
#1 Always keep your gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
#2 always keep your gun in a safe direction
#3 never put your finger on the trigger or inside the trigger guard.

#2 and #3 are great...but #1? I had to answer a quiz with a question that said "I will keep my gun unloaded until i am ready to use it" that required a "Yes" answer to get my permit.

Sometimes you have to play the game. No matter how stupid it is.

OR read it as. "I will keep my gun unloaded until I am ready to carry it/secure it for rapid use, etc"

So just make sure you are always ready to use it!

Reminds me of Taurus' manuals: (lifted straight from an online manual - these are RIGHT NEXT to each other)

WARNING:
Securing your firearm may inhibit access to it in a defense situation and
result in injury or death.
WARNING:
Failure to properly secure a firearm may result in injury or death.
