There should be a "Take a Newbie Shooting" Day.:D

Well last night makes it the 7th person this year, to unveil the wonderful world of firearm safety.

My good friend Ariel and I went to the indoor range after work. He filled out/signed the waiver and went into the classroom with a Glock 19. They didn't have any .22s available to rent.

The lessons:
Safety rules #1 and #2, check.
Learning how to clear the weapon, check.
Safety rules #3 and #4, check.
Learning how to operate the weapon, check.
Safety rules #1 and #2, check.
Practicing with a snap cap, check.
Safety rules #1 and #2, check.
Proper grip and stance, check.
Safety rules #1 and #2, check.
Finding dominant eye and working the sights, check.
...and lastly: Safety rules #1 and #2, check.

We picked up 50 rounds, picked up our eyes and ears and settled in our booth. We began with the human silhouette at 3 years; I shot first allowing him to watch for stance, grip and trigger pull. Then it was his turn...BAM center of mass! The rest was self explanatory for a first time shooter.

After an hour ½ of shooting he came out grateful and want to do it again!

I should be charging. Nah, the pure joy of introducing someone to firearms and freedom is a reward in itself.

I just wanted to share. Thanks for reading.

"We began with the human silhouette at 3 years" Wow! Is that regular years or light years? But seriously good on ya for taking the time to train somebody right.

Thanx Count! That is probably one less ambivalent person about firearms. Unfortunately that is more than I have done.

Thanks guys. I honestly want to encourage everyone to take a newbie out to the range and properly teach them the right ways. One less sheeple out there.
