So I'm a pseudo-newb, been skeet shooting for about a year w/ a hand-me-down 20ga, and a few months ago decided to start shopping for a budget 9mm carbine. I had a chance to check out the Sub 2k and Hi-Point 9mm's at the recent Dixie Gun & Knife in Raleigh, NC - took the Sub 2k home!

Had a blast at the range today. Love everything about the gun except the sights - I'm not used to peering through the circular rear sight (I'm used to the classic ironsights or whatever they're called.) They weren't really a hindrance, just took some getting used to.

I would plink w/ the Grandfather as a kid, but hadn't done any shooting since '95 or so until a buddy, on a whim, took me shooting with him. I fear this gun stuff is gonna start snowballing soon. (I have a rather compulsive personality when it comes to 'collecting' things.) Would like to say thanks to THR - this place is awesome, and has been an invaluable resource as I'm learning more about firearms.

Now to order some 31-round glock mags before they're banned again.....

Sounds like fun!

Don't worry too much about centering the post in the aperture. Just get a good cheekweld on the buttstock, and focus on the front sight post.

I bought one a couple years ago. This is my favorite range gun. One tip I got from a Kel-tec board was to drill out the rear sight a little bigger. This helped me out a lot, quick and easy to do.
