The wood on the Vetterli is very nice. Lovely collection.

I recently picked up a walnut-stocked K-31, but I don't know how to tell the date (unless it's the number on the tang . . . 51). Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, no one around here sells 7.5 Swiss.

Grimjaw, get the serial number of the rifle and look it up here:

There's also a year under the buttplate, but that's the year the stock was made and on many it doesn't match the year of the receiver.

Reading the title itself, I thought you were going to pull a "Czar Romanov Photo-Shoot" (a.k.a., when the Russian revolutionaries executated the Czar's whole family, they told them that they were posing for a photo.)

I'm glad I was able to get one before you bought them all :) . Nice collection, I regret not picking up one or two more.
