Top 10 Anti-Gun Representatives
http://www.humaneventsonline.com/blog-detail.php?id=15482

Ranked by the National Rifle Association.

10. Sheila Jackson Lee (D.-Tex.):

Always prepared to offer anti-gun amendments, whether they're relevant to a bill or not.

9. Diana DeGette (D.-Colo.):

A reliable fixture at press conferences on any anti-gun initiative. Wants to hold gun manufacturers liable for the illegal use of firearms.

8. Mike Castle (R.-Del.):

Consistent sponsor of anti-gun legislation. One of only six House Republicans to vote against the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that restricted reckless anti-gun lawsuits.

7. Anthony Weiner (D.-N.Y.):

Promotes New York City gun laws (among the most restrictive in the nation) as a model for the rest of the country.

6. Carolyn McCarthy (D.-N.Y.):

Sponsor of unsuccessful legislation to drastically expand the "assault weapon" ban of 1994-2004 to cover even more guns. Gun-control supporters claimed a crime wave would ensue after the ban's demise, but violent crime instead fell to a 30-year low.

5. Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.):

A reliable vote for anti-gun legislation, and poised to put anti-gun bills at the top of the agenda if she becomes Speaker.

4. Jim Moran (D.-Va.):

One of only four representatives who voted against requiring that, in the event that a prospective firearm purchaser is rejected by the national background check system, the government must tell the person why.

3. Zoe Lofgren (D.-Calif.):

Always ready to lead the "Million Moms" on the House floor in favor of any anti-gun legislation, no matter how extreme.

2. Henry Waxman (D.-Calif.):

Like the child who can’t understand the meaning of "no," Waxman is the congressman who most frequently turns to the GAO to conduct studies designed to support "gun control" schemes he knows do not have support in Congress.

1. John Conyers (D.-Mich.):

The only current House member who voted for the Gun Control Act of 1968, has been a vocal opponent of 2nd Amendment rights ever since.

wow, I knew Dianna DeGette was nasty but I didn't know she was in the top 10. Too bad she's my own rep. I've stopped even writing her as it was clearly pointless.

DesertDog, my CongressCritter, Corrine Brown of the 3rd District of FL would be there too, but she misses so darn many roll call votes. I guess you could say that is the only factor keeping her from being a total waste of skin Her gerrymandered district is so secure, the GOP won't even run a challanger. :cuss:

wow, five females in the top ten

Tried Google and ask.com without success. Anyone know what the percentage of female Representatives is?

10. Mike DeWine (R.-Ohio)
Consistently the only Republican to speak in favor of anti-2nd Amendment legislation on the Senate floor.

9. Jack Reed (D.-R.I.)
The most vocal opponent on the Senate floor of congressional legislation to prevent lawsuits against firearms manufacturers based on the actions of criminals.

8. John Kerry (D.-Mass.)
Accepted a shotgun as a campaign gift from union officials, even though it would have been banned under a bill he cosponsored.

7. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D.-N.Y.)
Though just in her first term as an elected official, she campaigned for gun control while First Lady, advocating gun owner licensing, handgun registration and the retention by the federal government of records on lawful purchasers of firearms.

6. Frank Lautenberg (D.-N.J.)
Despite government studies showing that fewer than 1% of criminals get their guns from gun shows, Lautenberg sponsored legislation to run gun shows out of business.

5. Dianne Feinstein (D.-Calif.)
Sponsor of the much-vaunted assault-weapon ban of 1994-2004. Despite the ban's having been found to have been misdirected and irrelevant to crime, Feinstein said she wished for a stronger law, one that would say, "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn [your firearms] all in." Feinstein carried a handgun for her own protection in California.

4. Barbara Boxer (D.-Calif.)
Sponsor of bills to ban compact handguns, such as those commonly carried for protection, by making the legality of their manufacture in the U.S. contingent upon the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' (BATFE) regulation permitting the same type of firearm to be imported. BATFE uses regulatory authority over firearms importation arbitrarily and, some say, illegally. Boxer hoped the BATFE would do the same with U.S.-made firearms.

3. Ted Kennedy (D.-Mass.)
A generation ago, this liberal lion sponsored legislation to ban and otherwise restrict handguns. He hasn’t let up a bit since.

2. Dick Durbin (D.-Ill.)

1. Charles Schumer (D.-N.Y.)
Sponsor of legislation to ban firearms as "assault weapons," to ban hunting, recreational, practice and defensive ammunition as "armor piercing," and to impose a waiting period on handgun sales. The member of Congress who most seeks publicity for himself on gun-control issues.

10. Sheila Jackson Lee (D.-Tex.):

Always prepared to offer anti-gun amendments, whether they're relevant to a bill or not.

9. Diana DeGette (D.-Colo.):

10% Republican
90% Democrat

But, remember, there's no difference between Republicans and Democrats on gun rights issues

I thought Lincoln Chaffe (R-RI) was pretty solidly in the "anti" camp . . . ditto Olympia Snowe (R-ME) . . .

Well, maybe it's just a matter of degree . . . that Senate rogue's gallery is downright sickening.

---quote------
Spoke out in FAVOR of renewing AWB.
--------------

Saying that he would sign an AWB renewal IF it came across his desk, then working behind the scenes to make absolutely sure it never did come across his desk, is something less than enthusiastic whole-hearted support for AWB renewal.

If you're saying that GWB is less-than-optimally supportive of RKBA, then I agree. He could do a lot better.

If you're saying that GWB belongs on this list of top twenty relentless anti-gun activists, you're blowing smoke. He is nowhere near the class of these hardcore anti's.

Sure, and there are a lot more Democrat anti's that didn't make that list, either. It's not purported to be an exhaustive list of all anti gun politicians, just a list of the most virulent ones.

Sort of like if someone were to publish a list of the top ten all time quarterbacks, and then someone else replies, "yeah, but George Bush talked about going out for the football team in high school, so why isn't he on the list?" You have to work a little harder than that to get on the top-whatever list.

Add to that list:

George Bush (R - Connecticut-pretends-to-be-from-Texas)

Spoke out in FAVOR of renewing AWB.
No he didn't. He said he'd sign it if it hit his desk. He didn't lift one finger to get it there. Neither did any member of his administration. Immediately prior to the the AWB renewal vote and the '04 elections, I wrote both of my [anti-gun, Republican] Senators and asked them if they were looking forward to a Kerry presidency. I told them that if they were, that they should vote to renew the AWB. Neither did.

He totally buffaloed Sarah Brady and Dianne Feinstein... you too apparently.

10. Mike DeWine (R.-Ohio)
Consistently the only Republican to speak in favor of anti-2nd Amendment legislation on the Senate floor.
What to do in November? What to do?

I voted against this RINO in the primary. He still won by a huge majority. :banghead: I don't know if I can hold my nose hard enough to vote for him in November. His Dem opponent is also a flaming anti, but also a socialist. If enough conservatives refuse to vote for DeWine, he could lose.

Given that we have so many more red states than blue states, you'd think we could have a conservative Senate and a Republican majority without having to count the RINOs.

Antsi pretty much summed it up.

Throwing in the "Bush spoke in favor of the AWB" is S.O.P. for those who hate the Republicans/Bush but support the RKBA. This is despite the fact that Bush had more than one closed door meeting with Hastert and Delay during the days leading up to the debate where Delay was publicly stating that it will positively not come up for a floor vote.

Like it or not folks, hate or love the GOP, it has been a GOOD run...we haven't had ANY gun-control bills. That's a success in this political climate if you ask me.

You don't have to like the GOP, but if the question was asked "which party is the best vehicle for protecting the RKBA"...you'd be a fool to not agree that the Republican party is the way to go. Making the strawman argument that both are incremental loss of the RKBA as a justification to throw the baby out with the bathwater and isn't the wisest idea. Alternative parties offer zero chance of anything, and yes, that's even if we all thought positive and jumped on the bandwagon, the 3rd party movement would still be a group of nobodies with zero power. Instead, one must be a realist and realize that the chances are far better in reforming one of the parties currently in power or who have access to power. We could have all gone for a 3rd party years ago, and watched the RKBA be completely legislated out of existence while the 3rd party would take decades as a movement to grow - if it would ever materialize into a force. Then we'd have to go back and repeal and bring back the RKBA. Make no mistake about it, it would be GONE today if it weren't for the strategy of trying to work within the system. There's more to the RKBA than just laws or parties. If the gun culture dies because of restrictive legislation because you've abandoned the fight to seek a more die-hard purist approach, you've lost anyway. We've seen this in some anti-gun states around the country.

Part of the anti-gun strategy is to limit the RKBA by laws so much that it becomes tedious and a hassle to exercise firearm ownership. Less people owning guns means less people going to the range, which means less people getting into shooting sports, less people hunting, less hunting lands, less gun shops, so forth and so on. Less people who own a gun and are into shooting, less chance their children will learn anything else but anti-gun media propaganda or hollywood depictions of firearm use. The culture of the gun dies, and so with it, the political force behind it. Go to NYC sometime...the gun culture is about as dead as dead can be in that society (except for the criminal use, or the elitists with CCP) People aren't into it, their knowledge is mostly ZERO, and they are often anti-gun because they've been bombarded their whole life that the reason crime sucks, is because of guns. That's their goal, and it has worked like a charm in places like Chigaco, NY et al. People there mostly hate guns and agree with their radical leaders.

If you want this to happen on a national scale, go ahead and choose a different party than the Republican party. Go with a 3rd party, or better yet, stay home on election day 2006. That's the best way to reward a party that has been pretty darn good on the RKBA. You know, we haven't had any repeals of gun-control, but that's not a big deal - we at least stopped the flow of gun-control, and we're in the right direction and someday we might get a repeal. What's that saying? No news is good news? Exactly.

There are so many pro-gun Bush haters that they will stay home or punish the GOP, and if the Democrats take control of either chamber, or the presidency in 2008 -- absolutely, positively expect gun control to move to the top of the agenda. We'd all be FOOLS if we actually believed that the Democrats are "scared" to bring up gun control because of their loss in 1994. That assumption is something WE have pushed as a reminder threat to the Democrats, and we've said it so many times that we believe it to be fact now - but it is absolutely not an assurance that the Democrats will actually act in that manner. They will get payback by shoving a gun control bill down our throat, and maybe then, the apathetic RKBA crowd will remember the days when gun controllers ruled the government and will oust them - but it will be too late and we'll have a new gun control bill pasted on our backs like a scar as a reward for our little experiment.

You don't win allies by stabbing your supporters in the back.

Perhaps my memory is fading, but hasn't Rep. Jim Moran, D-VA, been a very solid pro-gun dumbocrat over the years? Wasn't he a Sponsor/Co-Sponsor of some MAJOR pro-gun legislation a few years bacK (FOPA 0f '86, or something of this nature?) Is he really on this list for one "infraction"??

Keep right on voting those "pro-gun Conservatives" in office!

Sure, you may get to keep your beloved "assault weapons" but forget about the right of privacy, free speech, freedom from illegal search/seizure.

Who needs those when you've got your guns? Not like you'd use them against the government anyways, that's what they're counting on!
