If you could only have the guns you could carry- about five, what would they be? It would be for tactical, hunting, and survival- so choose wisely!

I would choose:...
custom M14 in sage stock (if i cant afford a good one then ill go with a dragunov)
stainless 1911 (probably a dan wesson pointman seven)
mossberg 6 shot folding stock 12 guage- (its supposed to be a little small)
sig p226
a dragunov, glock, 10mm 1911, shotgun, surplus rifle or my browining a-bolt white gold medallion (300 wsm)

all the guns have to be legal for the average american to own in free states (not cali. and others like it)

Holy smokes, you can carry all those at one time? I guess I choose:
AK-47
Stainless 1911
Small 9mm - Kahr probably
12 Gauge Pump - Rem 870
Bolt Action Scoped - Rem.

Glock 17
Glock 19
AR-15 (5.56 chamber)
Marlin 1894c (.357/.38)
4" .357 revolver (6 shot cylinder, minimum)

My selection is based upon ammunition availability. I think 9mm, .223/5.56 and .357 or .38 ammo would be most easily obtainable.

Ruger 10/22
Ruger Mark I/II/III
Mossberg 500 with PGO and full stock as well as an 18.5" and 26" barrel
Any 16" AR-15 variant
Sig P226 9mm

Those are my choices. The first two were based on .22LR being very abundant and easy to carry a lot of. The 12ga. is very versatile and can easily be used to take on a lot of different sized game and critters both two legged and four legged. The AR-15 for availability of ammo and parts, if necessary. The Sig because you need a good sidearm for tactical needs and 9mm is a NATO round so it should be widely available.

Mossberg 500
Hi Point 995
Beretta M21
Browning High Power Mk3
(not in any particular order)

rem. 700 cdl .270 - hunting(I am looking for one currently)
moss. 500 - tactical (I have it)
stainless 1911 double stack - carry, defense (i have it)
stag arms 2t - defense (I have it)
Kimber UC II - backup if it fits in an ankle holster, I haven't tried to do that yet. (I have it)

How is that? I guess I could add glock to the list, I dont have one but with their reliability and durability it almost seems necessary, especially if cleaning supplies are an issue

A .22 rifle like my remington
Scoped m14
9mm Pistol high capacity lime the Berreta M9 or my trusty 1911 .45
Mossberg 835 12 GA
FN F2000

That should cover all the bases. .22 for meat, scoped M14 for large game or sniping, pistol for self defense shotgun for self defense and birds, FN F2000 for defense.

"#1 rifle for most things (tactical, hunting, survival, fun)"

I'm a huge fan of the AR's and have several variations... however, I would rather use a M14/custom M14 than any AR for hunting (even if the AR were barreled in .308).

FYI... by "hunting" I assume it is deer, not squirrels.

In this situation my choices are simple. i would take my Springfield TRP, and my FAL. In reality that is about all i could carry anyway (and still have descent mobility.) I would outfit the wife with my AR and my Hi-power. This gives us the ability to take large and small game if needed.

If I could only have one for all of those? The AK-47. If it wasn't for the "survival" part I would have voted differently, (m1a, mini-14, or a semi-auto 12 gauge.) but if I'm lost in the forest for a month, I don't need something that requires lots of maintnence.

One Gun is all i need, unless im facing a crowd. Even then, Its possible with only one gun.

the 'New' Jew-gun ;p

IMI Tavor-21 fits almost any survival needs, in North America. Its nearly as light as the M4, shorter, handier, very nice ergonomics, accurate, uses common low weight and low bulk cartridge, and is made by Israel.

A rifle that a nation that is fighting all its neighbors and is winning has chosen, must be quite the weapon to be replacing the AR-15 type.

A very large crowd? AA12. 32 round drums please.

This comes up fairly often. The reason for having to select only five could make a difference in the choices.

So, I will presume that no invasion is forthcoming, no bug-out is imminent, and no bans are on the way. I will select MY five based on what _I_ would want or expect to do with them, trying to make my initial 5 gun battery do it all, including the "tactical, hunting and survival" aspects. (I will further presume that I will be able to buy more guns down the road.

M1A Scout. Fulfills the tactical, hunting and survival roles pretty well. Plenty of 20 rd mags to go with it.

STI 2011 Shortblock in .40 I'm a competitive shooter and this would be the one I'd choose. It's accurate and small enough to conceal if needed. It holds 19+1, so it'd also be a good tactical sidearm as well. Again, plenty of mags. I'd get a .22 conversion kit, so I'd also have a .22 pistol. (is that cheating?)

Browning BL-22 Grade II It was my first firearm. It's accurate and is self contained. (no magazines to lose) Good for plinking fun and hunting.

S&W Model 29. Very versatile handgun. Good for hunting and even survival.

S&W M&P-40 (or 9mm Pro) Concealed carry, and to shoot Production with. Good general purpose handgun.

My list tomorrow might be differrent !

.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I guess a 9mm subgun
a 1911 in 45acp with a 22lr conversion kit
a full size Rem 870
and a supressed rifle of some caliber

i don't think that i could carry that many guns at once, i think that i would be good with my ar, my 870, and my xd service model.

For the True SHTF EOTWAWKI, I'd probably try to get my hands on:

1) A true military M-14 select fire, with at least 5 mags, and a decent scope.
2) 18" Mossberg 500.
3) Beretta M9 (92)
4) Small form factor 380 for ankle carry (Bersa Thunder, etc)
5) This one may be hard, but a M-60 Machinegun

I think the above would handle just about any situation. Except for the .380, those are all weapons that I used when in the Navy, and I am quite proficient in their usage and care.

This question is kinda loaded in my opinion, however, because people are always going to answer (as I did) with the weapons that they are most trained and proficient in. I would not include the M-16/AR in that list for myself, because I've never used one, even though it's been on my shopping list forever. Anyone who would list a gun they've never become proficient in would be a fool.

Ruger MK II .22 pistol
Ruger 10/22 rifle
Colt lightweight Commander .45
Mossburg 500 12 ga.
Colt AR-15 match target:)
