Top Ten Reasons Against Gun Control

I'm going to compile the 10 best of all time for my next Letter to the Zombies (one of mine was at the top of the Opinion Page of the largest South Jersey paper yesterday, by the way). Please add any that rock so that I can steal your ideas. Thanks.
Not in any particular order:
1. Law abiding citizens remain so even after they're armed.
2. Laws that specifically target law abiding gun owners blame and punish the wrong people.
3. A raped and strangled woman isn't necessarily morally superior to a woman with a gun in her hand and a dead rapist at her feet.
4. Those who sacrifice freedoms for the sake of security lose both.
5. Crimes committed by lawful concealed carry permit holders nationwide are virtually non-existant.
6. A free society, by definition, does not require its citizens to ask for permission to defend themselves.
7. Any attack on our Constitution is disgraceful and a dishonor to those who fought and died to ensure our freedom.
8. There is nothing ambiguous about the 2nd Amendment (especially the "shall not be infringed" part).
9. 9 out of 10 criminals favor gun control.
10. Government employees who carry firearms don't necessarily possess moral judgement superior to that of the people.
11. You suck.

They should be very easy to read and follow for the benefit of my extremely simple minded neighbors who are worthless bags of cells, but who vote.

Gun restrictions are an absolute, documented, and complete abject failure to attain it's stated goals of controlling crime.

The Police simply cannot be everywhere, and several court decisions have stated that the Police have NO DUTY to protect you.


In some areas, 9-1-1 response to a Priority One "Citizen in Grave Danger, Shots Fired" distress call can be over 1 hour.

"If you take the gun from 'gun violence', you're still left with violence. If you take the violence from 'gun violence', well...you've solved the problem, haven't you?"

Reason # 14: There is no documented case in recorded history in which guns were confiscated long term from the people that has not ended in increased crime, genocide, or serious oppression of those peoples.

(Seriously, can anyone find a case of succesful gun control that had positive long term effects?)

Pretty fair start, but IMO, we'd all be further along if we avoid rhetoric and emotion and stick to irrefutable logic and unassailable reason, aka facts with citations/sources.

Emotion is the currency of the gun-grabbers, we must move them past emotion and into thought. If we can't make them think it through, we have no hope. Granted, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink, but you can hold his head under water and suck on his butt - nasty work, but somebody's got to do it. Facts and documetation is the suction.

I've been under the impression that the gun grabbers respond to emotion and not to facts so the best tact is to hit them with as much emotion as possible. I definitely may be wrong. So, whoever has an opinion on it: Do the antis respond better to hard fact (statistics, ect.) or do they respond better to emotion (just straight out rational thought)? I don't know the answer myself.

IMNSHO, antis won't respond to anything, logic or emotion, that runs contrary to their precious opinions.

I hate to use this one here, but to all too many people, "It really is all about me." I have no opinion as to why this has come to be over my lifetime, but it seems that to many, many people... you really do not matter. Not your opinions, not your wants, not anything.

Sorry about the rant, but I've had it with people who have no empathy for others.
