Topeka gun and knife show

My little rant from todays Topeka gun and knife show. I had a booth and the gun show today and though sales were slow. It was all in all a pretty good time. I good friend of mine has been wanting to buy a super redhawk .44 mag. I just so happens that I have two of them. While looking around at some of the other booths I found a Super Blackhawk Hunter 7 1/2" Stainless. The price on the gun was $450 which is a steal. I talked with the owner of RMP guns and he confirmed the price of $450. So I went to talk to my buddy and told him that if he still wanted my redhawk. I would sell and in turn purchase this blackhawk. So I strike a deal with my buddy and return to purchase the said blackhawk. Now the tag says $550 I asked the owner wasn't this gun $450 just a few minutes ago. Oh no he tells me that gun has always been $550. Well three of us were looking at the gun at the same time myself and two friends. So now I am out a super redhawk and the lying bastard would not get my money even if he went back to $450.

Did anyone else have any luck at the gun show today?

That's pretty typical of RMP and a bunch of other liars and horse theives that call themselves dealers at the Topeka shows. I go occasionally but haven't in several months.

Geez, that sucks. That's as much as a travesty as the $500 Mosins I saw at the last one I was at. Or the rusted Chinese M44 that the bolt would fall out of. $250.

As a whole the gun show wasn't that bad. I was selling raffle tickets to benifit hunter education. The whole weekend I only sold 23 tickets. The American legion was selling only 300 chances for $10 a chance for a Harley sportster. They only sold 20 of them and 2 of those were to me. So not a good venue to raise money. There where plenty of people walking around trying to sell the EBR they had to have last year. All and all not a bad show but not to much money changed hands with anyone at any table.

If anyone is interested we are having a raffle for $10 a chance the first name will receive a 1967 Winchester Canadian commemrative NIB never fired. Originally purchased on Valentines day 1969. The second name drawn will receive a CZ-USA 104-a Mallard O/U shotgun in 12 ga. If anyone is interested in a ticket please send me a pm. I will ship to your FFL paid freight. Money goes to benifit hunter education in Shawnee county Kansas.

Last show I went to was this Summer. One crazy fool was carrying around a Century C-15 he bought 2 years ago. Century sold them for $599 delaer, this clown wanted $1000 after he used it.

I handed it back to him, laughing. Several dealers had new AR's for $750-800 and this guy wanted to sell used Century garbage for a grand. Haven't been back.

Don't know how many times I've seen dealers sell guns to each other only to put it on their table for a hundred bucks more than the other guy. Guys will seal a deal with an FFL there, go out to the ATM to get the cash only to find the FFL sell it out from under him or jack the price up, even if he put money down on the piece.

It's sad to see where this operation has decomposed into. I still remember the shows when they were held at the Municipal Auditorium, now TPAC. A smaller venue but a better time.
