Went to the Topeka KS gun show today. Drove an hour there and arrived shortly after opening.

What a drag. Not worth the $10 entry fee or the gas.

Just the same stuff, tons of rusted out used duck shotguns, refinished Mosins for $450 (no joke), single shot .22s that looked like they've been through a nuclear blast, the usual. Also at least 50% of the tables had nothing but JUNK on them. I said JUNK, because I have no clue how anyone could think it otherwise. Piles and piles of cheap Chines toys, trinkets, magnets, weird sheet metal knives from China I'm sure, several tables that appeared to be selling scrap metal parts, rusted out stuff, worn out Rohm revolvers and other Saturday night specials, candles and cosmetics, just the worst. The place was packed full of folks. I don't know why, but it seems gun shows around here attract some of the smelliest and most unkempt people. Tons of flagging going on. I almost got hit in the jaw by someone's rifle swinging around on their back losely. Got a revolver aimed right at my head as well from someone checking out what was either a Rohm or H&R. Someone brought there kid who apparently had Tourettes and he kept shouting out extremely loudly about every five seconds. But they did have a table selling a number of portraits of ADOLF HITLER so I guess it wasn't all bad! :barf:

I went there to find a Ruger Blackhawk but nobody had the model I wanted. Just about the only noteworthy thing I saw was a single Kimber K6 revolver. Dang that thing was NICE. It felt much lighter and was smaller than I anticipated. Very nicely finished, what a beaut. If I don't get one of the new Colt Cobras I might get a Kimber .357.

Other than that one gem in a sea of rubbish this was the worst I'd ever seen it. I won't be going back anytime soon. I'd love to hear any recent gun show tales from you guys!

Sounds familiar. In addition to overpriced guns we also have the following: camo clothing, ammo, jewelry, knives, coins, dried meats, canned food, leather belts/bags,...... I did pick up my old man 4lb9oz repeating shotgun with alloy barrel and action. It will do nicely when I get old but still want to go into the bush. Nothing is going to change because no matter how bad it gets they will still have congested isles.

I was there. Place was packed and better stuff and prices than I've seen in years. Somehow the OP missed the 6 or 7 tables of new guns of all types I guess. I picked up a 938, very lightly used, two mags, for $600.

No I saw them. But did you, oh I don't know, see all the other stuff there?

Maybe Berettaprofessor missed the 30 tables full of crap.

I feel bad for you Kansas natives if you think this was a good gun show.

Seems a little early for our monthly gun show-bashing thread. Nonetheless, as I noted in the previous gun show-bashing thread only a short couple of weeks ago, us Evergreen-staters have eminently worthy gun shows put on by the great organization Washington Arms Collectors. Should any of you find yourselves in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, please feel free to contact me via PM and I will personally take you to one of our shows. Heck, I'll pay your admittance fee ...

I went to the show in Raleigh, NC yesterday.

It was busier than I expected, actually. Rather healthy turnout.

Prices were good overall. Lots of people were running deals on J-frame .38s. Some other common items were priced competitively, also. I actually came out of there with a fair price on a new 3" S&W model 60 (not the Pro), which is exactly what I was looking for. Plus a buttstock cleaning kit for an SKS (bonus). So I thought it was a good trip.

I saw them Cooldill. I tend to ignore the knife, bumper sticker, mil surplus clothing tables and walk on by without notice. Well, except for one display of holsters that seemed attractive.;) I was just impressed that prices seemed normal again, normal being $50 for a brick of 22lr and gun prices better than Cabelas, which is usually most competitive that I'm willing to drive to.

Of course, I could just be happy because of the 938. Better buy than I knew...Extreme model complete with SIGlite night sights. Made in April 2016, those night sights should be good for a few years. :)

I gave up on gun shows a few years ago. My last one was in Nashville I believe in 2014. I went there looking to buy a Sig p226 and the only one I found was a used one for $800. I turned around and bought a new p226 for $650 on gunbroker and haven't been to a gun show since.

I must be spoiled here in PA. Eagle arms puts on one heck of a show in oaks about 6 times a year. The big ones have 2000 tables:what: I've spent entire days there and still don't have enough time to analyze it all. Of course there is still plenty of junk but the amount of guns is staggering.

And if you don't want the junk, up in Allentown the Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society has their legendary show where all vendors are members of the club and must be selling firearms it firearm related items.
