I always thought that stuffing a potato in the Barrel would cause it to peal back like a banana and cause your bill to fly around to the back of your head while your face turns to char and bugs gets away.

You aren't supposed to stuff a potato IN the barrel. You cut a hole in the potato and stuff the muzzle of the barrel in the POTATO.

But, I now have testimony that this does not work and 40 years ago I was being handed a line.

Gamestalker (post #24), I HOPE everyone knows enough NOT to try to hold the potato or towel or any other soft material covering the muzzle or barrel/cylinder gap WITH THEIR HAND!
