I have a P239 in 9mm that is a flawless performer. Always goes bang, never malfunctions, hits where it is aimed. The problem is that I have just never warmed up to it. The long trigger reset bugs me, but is no real problem. I put Hogue grips on it which makes a big difference in feel, but there is still a vague feeling of dissatisfaction.

Has anyone here either traded away a 239 for a 225 or has both who would care to comment on the relative merits of one over the other? Or should I go over to the Sig Forum? :)

Youre always welcome to go where ever you want to go. The 225 is an excellent gun for those who's hand like the SIG" feel. The 239 fits those hands who's arent SIG" hands....if that makes sense.

If the gun just doesnt feel right to you then try a 225..they are the same for reliability and everything else. The biggest difference is ergonomics.....
Or if you want a higher capacity gun........the 229, its very much like my CZ PCR in weight, size, capacity and overall accuracy and reliability.

Shoot well.

I think PCRCCW put it very nicely.

The P239 feels "weird" in my hand, whereas the P225 feels very natural and comfortable.

The P225 is a larger weapon, so you may lose some concealability, but for me it's a worthwhile trade-off.

The P229 would get you a high-cap 9mm or 40S&W, and I was tempted to buy one myself just the other day (I really wanted a 40S&W). But after a few minutes holding each gun, I found the P225 is still the better fit for me.

If you are comfortable with the feel of the P239, but think an adjustment is in order, then I highly recommend TJs Custom Gunworks. TJ does incredible work (especially on trigger jobs), and he is known as the "Sig Master" for good reason.

Have both, like both...yes, the feel is different, mostly due to the flat front strap, I think. One thing you might try is the Hogue grips that fit over the front strap and create a curved surface there. They are the "finger grip" style, though, which I personally don't like. I get along fine with the stock grips, which also conceal a little better (not "sticky" like the Hogue rubber). I suppose you could reduce or maybe trim off the raised ribs -- have never tried.

The differences between the two in terms of concealment are minimal in real life. The P225 is just a little bigger in every dimension, but the emphasis is on "just a little." And, if concealment isn't a factor, both have all of the usual SIG attributes that you've already mentioned.

At the end of the day, the only real difference is probably how it feels. If you can't modify the P239 to feel right, it sounds like trading is a good idea. The rub there is that the P225 is harder to find and will cost more than the P239...but there's no sense keeping a gun around that you aren't happy with.

The 239 is more compact and has a better trigger. The 225 has a better grip and is a real carbon steel sig, not some sissy nickle impregnated stainless gun! :D
