I swear I am getting terrible at waffling around...

Here is the deal. I have an opportunity to get the following stuff:

a complete Bushmaster XM15-E2S A3 rifle for sale. 16" bbl with no flash hider.

Items installed include:
First Samco M44S Carbine 4 Rail handgaurds with rail covers (original handgaurds included)
Hogue Monogrip for AR-15 (original grip included)
SOG verticle grip
Six position telescoping stock (original stock assembly included)

Also included are:
(3) 30 round magazines and (1) 40 round magazine
A3 removable carry handle
50 rounds of .223 ammunition only if bought FTF in Dallas area
Rifle Sling

In trade for a G19 w/ 2 mags and a Kahr MK9 with 2 mags.

This will leave me with only a G26 as far as handguns go.
I have been wanting to get more into rifle shooting, and this is an opportunity to get a rifle that might be fun at the range and to serve as a good SHTF rifle.

Good value in trade? Any thoughts on reducing myself to only one handgun?

Thanks for the comments.

I don't know about you, but I would have trouble giving up two guns for an AR-15. I say this because they are very easy and very inexpensive to build. Unless you are very keen on the configuration of this firearm, I would take some time to look over AR15.com and figure out how to build your own lower, and then keep an eye on the equipment exchange for an upper. As for the other stuff included, I just don't think any of that stuff is worth writing home about.

If it were me, I would keep my handguns, or sell one and add a few extra dollars and build a no ban AR15 to my liking. You'll get the enjoyment of the build, the configuration you want, and you won't deplete yourself to one handgun.

Good point. I am intimately familiar with the workings of an AR (Thank you USMC) and can basically break one down into it's smallest parts and back together again with my eyes closed (almost).

I am sure I could put one together for cheaper.

Hmmmm.. Perhaps that is the better route then.

Yeah, I would just hate to give up more than one gun in a swap. Maybe if it were for an M14 pattern rifle, but not for an AR. It sounds like with your past history with the weapon, a build would be no problem for you.

Concur with Petrel800.

I don't know what the market value is for a used Kahr in your area, but assuming you could make a private sale for about 400 bucks, you should also be able to get up to 400 smackers for a G-19 (does it sport Trijicons?) too ... so you'd be giving up possibly 800 bucks worth of (presumably) reliable handguns that you could carry every day ... for a rifle that you can buy new (in my area) for a little over $800.

Also (now this is only my personal experience), I haven't seen a lot of guys give up a reliable AR ... But I have seen a lot of guys trying to unload problematic ARs ...

Gentlemen,

The path is now clear. Thanks for the insight. I'll keep my two guns and wait until I have the cash to build my own.

Thank you.
