ok i dont want this to become a mini 14 vs ar15 thread (since there are a billion of them).

i have the chance to trade my mini 14 (gb model, stainless, flash hider, 4 factory hi cap mags., almost perfect condition) for a bushmaster AR (NIB, collapse stock, two mags, otherwise i think a base model) outright.

is this a deal worth making? i do want an AR pretty badly but i dig my mini too! its not the most accurate one ever made but fun.

thoughts?

is there any difference between a "souped-up" AR and a base model, besides the things one can buy to add on? this AR, btw, is a gas tube and not a gas piston rifle.

One could write 100,000 words on AR variations. Check out the price of the AR you would trade for on buds or gunbroker. It is likely higher than the value of your Mini14

Uh, I'm not an expert but I would think that version of the Mini is fairly uncommon. Compared to an extremely common/ordinary AR. I'm not convinced the AR is worth more without more info.

All depends what you like. A collector's piece or just a shooter? I suppose that AR would be good as a shooter, but it's about as ordinary as an AR gets.

its not what i would call a "collector's item" but it is a pretty uncommon one as mini 14's go. not like hen's teeth but uncommon.
